Have her ask the solicitor for a copy of the grant of aid. It will specify what her contribution should be - usually a token amount. Or maybe they’re right in the circumstances. Not sure without seeing the grant or any correspondence she has from Legal Aid. Hope she sorts it out.

Not really near me then, so I can’t help. BTW it is against all the rules for a solicitor to take a Legal Aid brief and then charge the client extra. Absolute no-no and if reported would probably get them thrown off the panel.

In the circumstances you outline (multiple ADVOs and breaches) tell her to go to court and seek a Domestic Violence (Section 102NA Family Law Act order), which will entitle her to free legal aid representation (solicitor and barrister) even if she’s not otherwise financially eligible.

Trump would just have expanded it again and loaded it again.

I have been a dedicated Labor voter for 50 years and can’t imagine ever risking helping to put the Libs back in power, but I
am incredibly disappointed by the current leadership and their capacity to support illegal acts of war and genocide. Of course the other lot wouldn’t be any better.
