George Orwell's 1984: The Graphic Novel George Orwell's 1984: The Graphic Novel : Orwell, George, Namai, Matyáš: Amazon.ca: Books

For clarity - there are multiple graphic novel versions of 1984 (TIL!) Calgary Board of Education and EPSB removed a different version (this one) www.amazon.ca/George-Orwel... But it's unclear from Rocky View Schools' list which version they removed. #AbEd

Just stopped by the public library to pick up the removed books that I was able to request from nearby branches. #AbLeg #AbEd

Important to remember the order on literary standards also applies to charter and independent schools. I tried to get removal information by filing an ATI to the education ministry for all lists. That request is now in third-party consultation purgatory, where it is likely to stay for a long time.

The Canadian Library Challenges Database | Centre for Free Expression The CFE-CFLA/FCAB Canadian Library Challenges Database provides access to challenges libraries have faced to items in their collection, and to displays, programs, room usage, and computer access.

The Centre for Free Expression has done far more legwork, contacting every Alberta school division, asking how many removed books, and sending access to info requests to every division that said they did remove materials. The results they have so far are in this national challenge database #AbEd

We've got some details for you in this story, including a compiled list of all the material I found removed through access to information requests. It's mostly graphic novels, but some results are unexpected. Profiles of artists. Retelling of bible stories. Cartooning instruction books. #AbLeg #AbEd

What books did Alberta schools *actually* pull off the shelves in response to a provincial order? It took a lot of work to find out. We still don't have a complete picture. And some schools are still pulling material.

Free speech advocates say it's ban unmatched in Canadian history. #AbLeg By me.

Alberta ‘excessively vulnerable’ to foreign interference, experts warn | CBC News Alberta is not ready to deal with the threat of online disinformation coming from foreign actors in a possible referendum campaign on separation this fall, according to national security experts.

“If we're relying on the RCMP to save us from foreign interference during a provincial referendum, it’s not gonna happen. And I would say the same for CSIS and for any kind of regulatory body, frankly,” said security expert Patrick Lennox. Story by #ableg @iciemmanuel.bsky.social

Coincidentally, I happened to renew mine in the fall and it was impressively smooth. The application is online, and if you go to a participating photo shop, they submit your photo directly to the UK govt.
I got frequent text message updates about where my application/passport was. A++

A fight between Alberta's premier and its doctors was inevitable. The path to peace is less clear | CBC News In less than 12 months, the relationship between Alberta physicians and the United Conservative Party government has more than soured; it has imploded. It shouldn't come as a surprise.
