Rumor is grants for special educator teacher & leadership training are about to be canceled. That means fewer special educators during nationwide shortages, fewer people who attract/retain teachers the field, and most importantly, poor outcomes for kids with disabilities and their families. #OSEP

Am I the only one feeling completely defeated by the deliberate destruction of our scientific institutionsβ€”what just a few weeks ago was the envy of the world? I don’t think people understand what has happened & what is going to happen following this recklessness. So much suffering on the horizon.

Screenshot of the article that reads: The Institute of Education Sciences, the research arm of the U.S. Department of Education, appears to be the latest agency in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency office.

Dozens of researchers and contractors received notices Feb. 10, directing them to immediately stop work on research projects and program evaluations financed by IES, a federal agency with a roughly $800 million budget, sources say.

It was not immediately clear whichβ€”or how manyβ€”of IES’ hundreds of contracts are affected, though one source estimated roughly 170.

Here's why your education friends had a real rough one today. It's... it's the entire education data collection apparatus of the United States.

Trump advisers weigh plan to dismantle Department of Education, WSJ reports U.S. President Donald Trump's advisers are mulling executive actions to dismantle the Department of Education as part of a campaign by Trump's close adviser Elon Musk and his allies to reduce to size of the government's workforce, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

I’m in search of survey studies that randomized item presentation to respondents. Need a few good examples that show how response rates should be reported. A book chapter that explains what to report would be even better. Any recommendations are appreciated. #AcademicSky

How Trump's Policies Could Affect Special Education The new administration's stance on special education isn't yet clearβ€”but efforts to revamp federal policy could have ripple effects.

How will special education be affected by the second Trump administration? Lots of concerns about reducing funding and rolling back civil rights protections--but also plenty of unanswered questions.

Definitely not an expert in this topic, but tier 1 supports will likely be very helpful; consistent routines, procedures, expectations; dense schedule of reinforcement; active student responding systems; communication with parents (using translation or really simple graphics).
