Lincoln East takes down the Coliseum nets after the Miracle on Vine Street, 1971.

Schuyler takes down the nets at the York district, 1969. This was the Warriors second effort to get those nets. They had begun the assault first before refs declared there was still 0:01 left. The floor was cleared and Schuyler finished the win, and then took the nets.

This pair of photos is one of my favorites in the cutting-the-nets genre: the Journal-Star gave Central's John C. Johnson the hero-shot treatment after the Eagles 1974 state title win, and then we see the team celebrating together.

In 1970, St. Cecilia celebrated its district wins with the nets after a win over Kenesaw, and then cut them down again after the regional playoff triumph over Sargent.

Any young basketballers out there looking for instruction on how to correctly cut down the nets in a championship celebration could do no better than to study the technique of the Grant Plainsmen.

Take a look at Bill Jackman's perfect form, and the 1985 Plainmen distribute the spoils of victory.

In 1968, it was the Northeast students who brought down the Coliseum nets. I love this LJS photo series from that win!
