🧡Dear Media: President Trump is NOT an antiracist. by @dissentingj(Professor Darren Hutchinson) | Twitter Thread Reader 🧡Dear Media: President Trump is NOT an antiracist. Trump says he is defunding universities to fight racism against Jewish and white students. He is also banning antiracism programming in universities...

Trump -- who has one of the most racist presidential agendas in modern US history - is stripping colleges and universities of funding in order to combat racism. This lie needs to be exposed daily.

Correct. And that's hideous on its own. It fuels the assumption that classroom instruction is indoctrination. I always tell my students that I don't care about their ideology. I care about their arguments. I am pretty certain that this is the norm.

It's more than disinformation. This is a sign of in-group panic. Dominant groups fear they are losing their "liberty," because civil rights/equality/equity is a zero-sum game. This fear is often reflected in gross overestimation of the subordinate population. Character limit makes this brief

Among Trump's most serious problems: Inability to think comprehensively. Opposing vaccines is a terrible. Choosing people to serve because they have made antivaccine statements is reckless. There are major policy areas in addition to vaccines. What is Weldon's capacity to serve effectively?

I read this quickly, but it seems like this would prevent federal grants for research on systemic racism or other forms of inequality. This issues are important generally, but have become critical in health-related research.

It applies to entities receiving federal funding (they cannot use federal funding to pay for DEI/CRT/Intersectionality, Gender training.
1. Won't pass now
2. Could pass later (horrible)
3. Issues are 1st A, Eq. Prot., statutory civil rights, and best practices for public and private sector.

Yuck. This will not pass in 2024. Some of it codifies an Executive Order Trump issued in 2020 (no DEI/CRT in federal agencies). This goes extremely far--even preventing offices within agencies that deal with race, gender, SO matters.
