Daily reminder that you are a better writer and researcher than any generative AI platform around. Your skills are worthy and it takes far more time to clean-up and fact-check the mess some chatbot spits out than to just do it yourself 😘

We have wondered what a complex archaeal cell might look like ever since 2014. It’s been a long road (and the journey is far from over), but it’s a good time to pause for breath and look. These Asgard archaeal cells are a surprise! And that is the joy of being a cell biologist.

Bacterial tubular networks channel carbohydrates in insect endosymbiosis Bacteria with an intracellular lifestyle need to feed from inside their host cells. This study shows an adaptation of certain symbiotic bacteria, allowing them to actively retrieve nutrients from the host. High-pressure cryofixation has been combined with volume electron microscopy and in situ high spatial resolution chemical analysis. It reveals a complex bacterial membranous network that increases the exchange interface between the bacteria and host cytosol and maximizes carbohydrate acquisition.

A novel taxonomic database for eukaryotic mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene (eKOI), with a focus on protists diversity Abstract. Metabarcoding has emerged as a robust method for assessing biodiversity patterns by retrieving environmental DNA directly from ecosystems. While

Version 5.1.1 of the PR2 database has been released.

The major novelty is the inclusion of the recently published eKOI database (coi gene- doi.org/10.1093/data...) in the web interface. The 18S rRNA database is not changed so you can use 5.1.0 or 5.1.1 for metabarcode annotations
