For #2025CNS, I was the MC at the Past Presidents’ Dinner. It was a beautiful night celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and honoring the presidents over the years who have led CNS to become the inimitable neurosurgical organization that it is today.

This afternoon, as part of #2025CNS, we broadcast the first carotid stent procedure from an outpatient center — ever — in the U.S. Thank you to those attending #2025CNS who joined us for this momentous event.

At UBNS, we pride ourselves on our integrated, community approach to healthcare. All of the pieces I mention here in our system work together to provide the best research, innovation, and care to our patients. “One-stop shopping” is right. We’re changing the game. And we can only do that together.

In honor of UBNS opening of the first Gamma Knife unit in an outpatient center, we brought in my friend and former chair, Dade Lunsford, who brought the first Gamma Knife to the United States in 1987. I am so proud to continue this work here at UBNS.

Almost all of us know someone who has Parkinson’s disease, or a tremor, or a seizure disorder; someone who has trouble getting dressed or walking on their own. The goal is functional independence for as many people as possible.

Before heading off to college, Max Diamond stopped by #UBNS to present us with funds he raised for brain tumor research. This is the second year Max has brought us this gift, as a way to commemorate the anniversary of his own surgery for a benign tumor on his cerebellum.

We are one month out from the New York Brain-Computer Interface Symposium! I'm excited to be part of the lineup at #NYBCI25 and I'll be delivering the keynote “Neurosurgical Techniques for BCI Insertion and Challenges of Removal & Reimplantation,” at 9:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3.

Our work with The Missy Project as well as our constant push for innovation and education is just the start of what I plan to do at University at Buffalo Neurosurgery (UBNS). The goal is to make sure everyone knows that #endovascularcare can be accessible.

Proximal in-stent pseudo-occlusions can create complex challenges in previously treated #aneurysms.

Here were show creative salvage #techniques to restore flow in the ICA.

Phase One of UBNS's partnership with The Missy Project, NOVA Neuro, and Prima Mente is underway. Last week, we began our work to understand why certain people develop cerebral aneurysms. We’ve taken blood samples from patients with aneurysms and we’re using AI-driven modeling for biomarkers.

This past weekend I delivered a keynote at the Michigan Association of Neurosurgeons' (MANS) summer meeting on neuroendovascular care in the Ambulatory Neurosurgery Center (ANSC). The enthusiasm with which this was received makes me excited for what the future holds!

Congratulations to my colleague Stephen Rudin, along with Eugene A. Mensah and Andrew Kuhls-Gilcrist, on a well-deserved recognition from the SUNY Research Foundation for their high-speed angiography patent, which was awarded in April 2024 after years of research.
