1/ I was in Toronto last night to surprise my incredible mother, Michele Landsberg, as she received the Ursula Franklin award from Canadian Voice of Women for Peace.
Disability rights are a defining struggle of our time.
These leaders have devoted their lives to breaking down barriers and fighting for a society where no one is forced into legislated poverty.
I’m grateful for their support and committed to fighting alongside the movement for real justice.
See you tonight, Guelph!
It’s troubling that not a single Conservative MP has raised this, despite getting about 28× more QP questions than New Democrats. Salmon are central to our region. This review must put conservation first, respect Indigenous rights and ensure fairness. I’ll keep pushing for answers. 2/2
Canadians are being crushed by the cost of living while those at the top hoard obscene wealth.
We need a government with the courage to tax that wealth and invest it in what we actually need.
That’s how we build a strong, independent economy that can stand up to Trump and work for all of us.
1/ Today, the Carney government joined the Conservatives and the Bloc to defeat @jennykwan.bsky.social's No More Loopholes Bill — legislation that would have stopped Canadian weapons sent to the U.S. from being used to fuel the genocide in Gaza.
From Alberta to Ottawa, trans rights are under attack. Join me and leaders in the trans community on Sunday, March 15 at 11am PT / 2pm ET for a critical conversation on what trans people are facing — and how we fight back.

I have cast my vote for @avilewis.ca today to be the next federal NDP leader. I have witnessed how his campaign is a spillover of a broader social political movement to fight against fascism. This struggle is rooted in love for a different world, and solidarity as love made visible.
Voting has begun and I was excited to cast my ballot.
Avi Lewis and his team have built something powerful. They have raised a record amount in donations, brought hundreds of people together at events, and put forward a bold progressive vision that leaves no one behind and brings everyone along.
3/ This war has nothing to do with democracy — or even nuclear weapons. Canada must have no part in it and Prime Minister Carney must use every ounce of his influence to put a stop to it.
2/ These are not military bases, they are the civilian infrastructure that keeps ordinary people alive. More than 1,300 people have already been killed since the attacks began, and nearly 6,700 civilian sites have reportedly been struck.
1/ A desalination plant supplying drinking water to 30 villages.
A flour and starch factory.
Oil depots blanketing Tehran in thick black smoke and contaminated rain.
65 schools. 13 hospitals.
Centuries-old heritage sites.
These are the latest targets in the illegal US-Israeli assault on Iran.
We take fire code very seriously.
@avilewis.ca getting locked out of his own event due to capacity limits. Great turnout, Nogojiwanong.
One of the best parts of this campaign is travelling the country and learning how working-class histories still shape communities today.
From its mining roots to its renewal as a cultural, recreational, and ecological hub, Cumberland shows resource towns can build economies that work for all.
1/ PM Carney: you can and must categorically rule out participation in this illegal war.
Your unqualified support of Trump and Netanyahu’s war was bad enough. It’s unconscionable that you’re now considering putting Canadian forces in harm’s way.
The NDP has a rich history in Canadian politics. We were born out of a movement of farmers, trade unionists, and feminists in an era where fascism was rising and social solidarity was essential.
Today, we are releasing our plan to once again make the NDP the Political Instrument of the People.
Really incredible energy in Ottawa last night for Team @avilewis.ca. A different world is possible. Our love is an infinite thing.
Last night's event in Ottawa was electric. More than 800 people in the warm and resonant Dominion-Chalmers Centre.
We're bringing New Democrats together, building the vision, strategy, and ground game for the next election.
Voting begins on March 9. Don't delay. Help us finish strong in Winnipeg.
Exactly how has Mark Carney's removal of the digital services tax shown he is serious about Canada being more independent from the US?
Should anyone learn about politics from Brady Tkachuk?
Barring a Hasan Piker-style arc, absolutely not.
Does that absolve Tkachuk and his teammates from their ignorance, which allowed them to be used for propaganda?
Absolutely not.
@daviddoel.bsky.social joined me to chat about this and more:
New Canadian trade deal with India only allows for 1 assassination per year
C'mon, mate, don't kiss Carney's ass like that. Even if you support his policies, you should be able to criticize him when he is wrong (which he very often is). If no one criticizes their leaders when they are wrong, then the leaders will feel as though they don't require accountability.
1/ Mark Carney called for a “new order” at Davos that respects human rights, sovereignty and territorial integrity. But his government's new approach to India—and its unconditional embrace of its authoritarian PM Modi—shows just how hollow that declaration really is.

3/ And he also knows this: we will be good stewards of this party we love when we listen to and learn from the generations of party organizers who are the unsung heroes behind our greatest triumphs.
1/ Ray Guardia is an NDP legend. For over 30 years, he has been a close advisor to the last five party leaders, run winning campaigns, & held many senior roles.
He worked closely with Jack & helped orchestrate the Orange Wave in Quebec, bringing the federal party to its electoral high-water mark.
At today’s press conference on Parliament Hill, I urged fed govt to urgently reform & accelerate the Special Immigration Measures program to help Palestinians reunite w/family in Canada.
Joined by affected families—enough is enough. Loved ones are still in danger. www.cpac.ca/headline-pol...
this is outrageous and the clearest example yet that carney is downplaying human rights and credible threats to canadians to pursue his economic agenda.
cozying up to the emiratis despite what they’re doing in sudan was bad enough, but many canadians will not just accept this u-turn on india.
The cult of leadership is a failed model.
That’s why our campaign made the deliberate choice to launch with bold solutions that address the everyday emergencies facing Canadians.
Because this campaign isn’t about Avi — it’s about all of us. This is how we build power and win.
