Save the date! It is one year today until the next BNASS conference. In 2026 BNASS will be held in Sheffield, the city where the planning began nearly 40 years ago! More details to follow soon, all updates will be on the website: lnkd.in/eMuHNNU8

Two fulmars sitting on cliffs.

A common guillemot perched on a cliff, with the sea to the right. A tuft of pink thrift is in the top left :)

Common guillemots and razorbills perching rather precariously on a rather soiled cliff.

Next up: common guillemots, razorbills and fulmars! The cliffs between Ceibwr and the Witch's cauldron (North Pembrokeshire, Wales) never fail to disappoint. I enjoy watching the gillies and razors come in to land using the same flight path πŸ˜† Not sure which was Reggie though @pembscoast.bsky.social

A little ringed plover camouflaged against a stony beach, with Canada geese in the background for scale (they are enormous in comparison). The photo is quite blurry because it was very far away... but just about captures the plover's yellow eye ring.

A zoom in of a chiffchaff sitting on an upper branch of a tree, with a bright blue sky behind.

A close-up of a very obliging jackdaw. Its grey and black feathers are gently glistening in the sun and its beak is cracked open as if about to tell a secret. Brilliant white eyes with a small black pupil that looks almost cartoon!

Finally made it across to Bluesky! Here's my first offering (jackdaw, chiffchaff and little ringed plover from the London Wetland Centre today) 🐦
