This was a shorter hike so less energy was spent on the illustrations. But I couldn't pass up the interesting route formations of the two younger trees rising out of the nurse log.

I have no interest in basketball's March madness.

An example of practicing drawing people today. Urban Sketchers is having a challenge of drawing 100 people this week. I won't make a hundred but it is an enjoyable challenge to draw people quickly.

I was able to attend Urban Skechers Tacoma's outing at Watson's nursery and greenhouse in Puyallup. This time I did two smaller sketches instead of dedicating the time just to one large detailed illustration.

My deep condolence to you and all who loved your brother. I hope this is a time where good stories are told about him that evokes smiles.

The backyard yellow bellied warblers are turning a brighter yellow. I wonder if they're changing color due to the season or if I'm seeing a different species.

A stern peregrine falcon looks at the reader against a background of pinks. "My love for you is like a Peregrine Falcon. Strong. Powerful." The peregrine zooms through the sky over a forest. "Energetic. Zooming towards you at 200 mph." The peregrine catches a bird. "Striking prey in a dramatic mid-air explosion of feathers. Storing excess meat in crevices or on ledges." The peregrine barfs up a pellet with a BLECHHH. "Vomiting up pellets of bone, feathers, gizzard, and other coarse material. Wait. What were we talking about?"

My love for you is like a peregrine falcon. One more valentine from a past year.

Today I went to the Urban Sketcher Seattle event at the UW biology greenhouse. I really enjoy drawing in this space but was distracted by all the different shapes and failed to draw any architectural details in my sketch. www.biology.washington.edu/facilities/g...

My completed sketch from Emerald City Orchids. It is a struggle to capture all the details on site so the sketch is often completed at home.

Beautiful red roses on a pink background with flowing script saying "Roses are red," Violets budding and blooming. "Violets are blue," Hydnora plants opening up looking like terrifying red mouths bursting from the hard sandy soil. "Hydnora are leafless, bizarrely fleshy, and incapable of producing chlorophyll," A splash of cute red and pink hearts. "And so are you. Happy Valentine's Day."

Today we had a field trip to Emerald City Orchid. The owner Joe was generous with his time and answered our multiple questions about terrariums and orchids. So many variations of orchids to see.

It is such a great place to walk and breathe.

An individual I follow on Instagram was trying to get rid of her card stash. If you messaged her your address a card would be sent to you. This is the card I received today and it made me smile.
