Today will be the first public episode of my new podcast about music industry. Very excited about it.

What is sweeping through techno today is a disease that is causing lasting and severe damage to the genre. There is no better way to describe it.

What do you think about alternative community building? Would you follow an artist you like to decentralized platforms? For example, subscribing to their newsletter, joining their Discord channel, and staying connected with them that way?

So my current plan is to maintain my own website, newsletter, and Discord server as my primary platforms and build a community there with those who genuinely enjoy my music. Your blog post only reinforced this decision for me, so thanks!

It’s a fact that almost everyone prefers Meta, but I find it completely unhealthy as an artist to be at the mercy of a corporate giant’s algorithm, forced to create content that has nothing to do with me, and then exposed to the hatred and frustrations of people I don’t want any connection with.

It was really great to read your post about whether one can be successful through mainstream social media, and as a musician, I feel the same way.

I can’t and I won’t conform to algorithms and their trekds—they drain me. I’ll focus on quality art and sustainable communities. From now on, I’ll be on my own platforms, where authenticity matters. Newsletter, Discord, own website. Am I shooting myself in the foot?

AI will likely take over music production within 5 years, and most listeners won’t care about the artists. Building strong audience connections will be crucial for musicians—maybe the only way. This could bring them back to their essence: creating and embracing the underground spirit.

Currently trying to find alternative platforms to Meta because, aside from its terrible algorithms, the content there is driving me insane. But both Bluesky and Mastodon still feel like ghost towns for now. I’m focusing on community building through my own website, newsletters, and Discord instead.
