11.08.2025 15:53 β π 51 π 14 π¬ 2 π 4I avoid gel manicures. The UV light is a skin cancer risk. The chemicals can cause an allergic reaction over time if it regularly comes in contact with skin, like cuticles. And they leave the nails brittle, even when removed properly. Regular manicures may need more redos, but are less dangerous.

Be aware that another shitty bill has been introduced: The SCREEN Act.
If passed, it would require Full. Age. Verification.
Like KOSA, call all your reps & tell them what a horrible idea this is.
Spread this pls.

02.08.2025 11:06 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They don't care. It's a death cult, and they think there's a prize at the end. These people make the origin story of Superman, where Kryptonians ignore their planet's imminent demise, plausible instead of pulp fiction. Only these guys are not ignoring it. They're accelerating it. They don't care.

11.07.2025 13:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh yeah. I rollaged some fine merino braids without steaming and severely fluffing first and it's like trying to draft felt. Which I don't mind on a heavier spindle like a large Turkish but on a wheel would drive me bat crap.
11.07.2025 00:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've run into a similar problem, and I apologize if you know this trick already. I recently learned that steaming merino braids and then predrafting them a bit really makes for a better experience when spinning this stuff up on a wheel. I use a steamer, but some use (carefully) a tea kettle's steam.

26.06.2025 10:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think it's because a drop spindle is considerably less expensive to learn on. Unless you find a wheel on FB market place or the like for a steal, you're gonna shell out $100s to see "if" you like it. If you can find local spinners who will let you try their's that would be a good idea.

New class idea: it all sucks, no, they arenβt supposed to be able to do that, yes Congress is supposed to stop it, yes, we already settled this, ok, yes, but itβs more complicated, yes, history is rhyming, no I donβt know why they think itβll be different, look, how bout we just stare at my cat?
23.06.2025 19:35 β π 674 π 41 π¬ 20 π 3Was going to suggest similar. I learned on a top whorl drop spindle, but find Turkish more satisfying. Either way I would recommend learning on these first. There's always a tendency in the beginning to draft too much wool for fear of breakage. I still "park and draft" a spindle when I need to.

Small Turkish Spindle with multi colored yarn wound on it, which leads to roaving of rainbow colors.
Seemed the right colorway for the season. This is my first attempt using both a drum carder for blending and then a dizz to make a roving of that blend. Didn't work as intended but... ooooo rainbow. #yarnspinning #handspinning #spinning π§Ά
