Pardon my screams. I know in the grand scheme of things, this is small potatoes. But it's as frustrating as poison ivy. I just made six different phone calls trying to get a medicine I've been on for five years. And I still don't have the medication. THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN.

Disabled people were one of the first groups targeted by the Nazis.

They coined the term “useless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.

We’re not expendable

you shouldn’t trust anecdotal data. That’s what I’ve heard anyway.

Long Covid Risk for Children Doubles After a Second Infection, Study Finds

Hi.

Stop letting your kids get Covid, I absolutely beg you as a fully grown adult who can’t believe how little of a life I have after 3 years of LC.

I know I buy too many books but I like to think that lining the walls of my house with them warns off evil in some deeply important way.

Note from my notebook (2017).

Free health care!

Ha-ha. JK. I never thought that. My parents complained about the cost every time.

Erica Ortegas sits dejected on an alien planet. Text reads "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!" Marvin the Martian looks through a telescope. Text reads "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!"

I can't have been the only one thinking this #StrangeNewWorlds @openpike.bsky.social #Terrarium #Moretegas!

Instead of telling a disabled person what they should or shouldn’t be able to do… ask them how you could help them accomplish what they need.

Listen to their struggles. Approach the situation with compassion.

Offer genuine support.

That’s the best way to be an ally.

Good news! After last week's hearing, which 100+ people attended, the picture book "A Map for Falasteen" by Maysa Odeh and illustrated by Aliaa Betawi remains on the Watertown library's suggested summer reading list! Thanks to @wbur.org for reporting on this story: www.wbur.org/news/2025/08...

Two things:

1. Large language models like ChatGPT are statistically likely word generators; they don't have "expertise" in anything.

2. I have seen a team of PhD level experts fail to assemble a dresser from IKEA.

I'm not a doctor, I've just been dealing with this disease and misinformed Drs for 30 yrs. If you're satisfied with your care, great!

If not, read everything at the Nancys Nook Endo group (medical sources cited) on fb and see if you need a second opinion.

...um....yeah. "(patients are commonly told they have pristine uterus tubes and ovaries and do not have endo, these are statistically the least frequently involved tissues)" --Nancy Petersen, endo advocate and nurse to Dr. David Redwine. x.com/nancynursez6...

Sorry if you've already been over all of this. I just hear too many stories of people who have been told they didn't have it. Only to have another, more qualified surgeon look and say they do.

Even "minimal" endo tissue can cause great pain. Was this surgeon an endo specialist? Some gyns don't know how to identify endometriosis in its different appearances. A neg biopsy from one site is only that site. No endo on your ovary does not equal no endo on your bladder, for example.

I'm so sorry. I know that sinking feeling I got after my last surgery. The worst was when the nurse came in and said with a big smile, "No endometriosis! That's great!" and I started crying and said, "Then why am I still in pain?"
Have they checked for adenomyosis?

Great episode, guys! I'm late, but I have to share my song for the episode. Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer:

Whoa, we're halfway there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
*Take my hand* and we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer!

An image of new Wicked tie-in crap includes pink- and green-stemmed wineglasses; hideous green Crocs; some Lego bits; a tarot deck, Funko pops, a gold necklace, and a microwavable cup of macaroni and cheese that comes in MYSTERY COLOR: will you get pink or green?

I thought "Wicked tie-in crocs" was going to be the thing that wrecked me from this image but then I looked more closely at the bottom right corner

I have strung this series out for yeeears because I didn't want it to end. I began around 2012. It feels so much more final when both the author and the reader have passed on. I'm starting the final book. Raise a glass to L.A. Meyer and K. Kellgren, for bringing Jacky Faber to life. #BloodyJack

Disabled people aren’t stealing your tax dollars

We aren’t the reason for rising costs & inflation

Most people would be shocked by what we’re expected to live on

We’re a scapegoat

It’s the billionaires who are doing the real fiscal damage

When you blame us, you’re giving them what they want
