Gyokeres, Havertz, Jesus, Martinelli, Madueke. That’s 5 of our 7 forwards injured.

Then add to that Odegaard as our captain and chief creator.

Conceding two open play goals against us. How shit must you be, Brighton?

Serious note: how good were both of those goals? Flick from Merino and run from Timber both excellent.

Credit to Palace, they’re an extremely well coached side, made it very difficult for us.

That combined with post European fixture, the injuries, made for a frustrating and nervy watch for the most part.

But an incredible finish from Eze, combined with other results, make for a great weekend. UTA.

You only need to look at the PSG and Parma line-ups to see the calibre of players.

PSG: Lama, Le Guen, Ginola, Weah.

Parma: Sensi, Brolin, Zola, Asprilla.

People also forget by winning the CWC it was us who faced UCL winners AC Milan in the following seasons Super Cup, not the UEFA Cup winners.

On league winners played UCL football then, so the UEFA Cup and CWC were littered with elite teams, unlike the Europa and Conference Leagues today.

As Part 1 referenced, Real Madrid, Benfica, Ajax and Leverkusen were in the CWC that year, plus PSG and Parma who we beat in the SF and Final.

The 94 CWC is one of my favourite childhood memories as an Arsenal fan.

Modern day supporters (both Arsenal and opposition) do not give it the credit it deserves, as they just don’t understand the European football landscape at that time.

This series is a great way of helping to rectify that…

Early goal (which was very poor, from Calafiori’s shit cross, to all being sucked to the ball, to just letting Halaand run free) set the tempo and gave City the game they wanted, especially given our choice of starting eleven.

Disappointing overall, but important to grab the late equaliser. UTA.

Some pleasing performances from the new players too:

- Zubimendi with the goals.
- Mosquera looked assured at the back.
- Madueke caused chaos.
- Lovely Eze to Gyokeres link up for our second.

Nice to have the depth we were lacking last season.

Transfer window is finally closed, so we can focus on the actual football itself, and there’s a bloody international break. Three games into the season. Fuck off. 🚮

Also, one of these days it would be nice to play them with a full squad to choose from.

Even when facing them as early as MD3 we have no Saka, no Havertz, no White, no Norgaard, Odegaard only fit enough for last 20 mins and Saliba off injured after 5 mins.

This run of injuries has been relentless.

There will be lots of debate over the cautious nature and the robust choice of midfield.

Reality is that had 0-0 written all over it until and moment of brilliance.

Whatever narrative you want to place on us, place it on them too. Potentially even more given they were at home.

And now a penalty for that. There’s arguably two fouls in the build up. And a Chelsea handball. And yet they end up with a penalty for Chelsea.

And it took nearly 5 minutes to review and decide. If it takes that long it isn’t “clear and obvious”.

This game has turned into a farce. Feel for Fulham.

To compound Fulham’s misery, they conceded in 9th minute of injury time when only 8 were given.

Understand it’s a minimum of, but a) where the fuck did he get 8 from in the first place? and b) there were no further delays, so where did he find the extra minute on top?

1 down. They should be 1 up!

Seen a few people (mostly in the other shitshow of a place) saying “he’s 27, that’s a lot of money for someone soon to be past it”.

Well, I remember signing a 28 year old from Palace a little while back and it worked out just fine.
