I don't see the point of wasting taxpayer dollars on a referendum to join a club that very likely wouldn't admit us anyway. That money would be better spent on helping Canadians, promoting new trade deals not with the USA, etc.

If you don't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you. It's not realistic and entirely pointless. We can get trade agreements with European countries without pretending we're in Europe or risking our trade agreements with Mexico.
