Big news over on farcebook
I had the same experience. Also, the DVD version i have has a feature length commentary by Roger Ebert which is very interesting.
I've got the Nuh Skin Up comp and 4 of his other albums. Definitely could use a few more

Everything is fucked and I'm gonna put a record on because at least that's good.
Crazy to think these recordings are ~100 years old.

Point taken. Where do I go with DB after Words of Wisdom?
I was thinking more about his Ya Ya and Yum Yum era stuff, which is not my bag.

The back cover kind of puts you on the spot. Asking tough questions.
Friday night record suggestion:
A 1970 Allen Toussaint New Orleans funk joint with Lee Dorsey singing lead, breaking out of his sorta cringy past and putting it all together. This is actually another great Allen Toussaint album. There are so many.
What's the best Keith Hudson record for a Friday night? No man can say.
See, the legacy of Citizen Kane sucks because the only line anyone remembers from it is "rosebud" when the best line by far is "No man can say." Just gonna put "No man can say" at the end of all my skeets from now on and get a few Orson Welles nerd likes.
Yeah but it kinda sounds like you're dismissing Toots. I'm probably biased, only having one DB record and about 13 Toots records. This is my first bluesky reggae fight, and I love that my fighter is Toots.
Got this at a record show a couple weeks ago probably because i have had a long history of never being able to find Heptones pressings that weren't terrible or beat to shit. This is a good pressing, but Leroy Sibbles is gone. It's pretty good.
Not on youtube. I checked about 9 links. Pretty glad i have the record.
No contest that Toots is the king of Jamaican music. Is this my first bluesky reggae fight? No man can say.
It's crazy that I can't find a link to the version of Peeping Tom (track 1) on this album. It's so good. There must be some weird licensing issue. All i can find is the version recorded years later that, let's he honest, kinda sucks. Therefore i'm spreading Gold and Silver

Back on my bullshit. Top 5 all-time record in this house.
If you include the work of his record label, then yes.
So this basically would have been the Skatalites backing here at Studio One. I can usually tolerate religious content if it's got a sick beat I can dance to.

I cut out that page before ditching the encyclopedia. I have it somewhere. Will look tomorrow.
Just wanted to note that this one is about the 7th best Toots album, and it still rules.
More than Toots, though? I dunno man.
Serious question: who's discography has given you the most joy? Going with Toots over here. At least 10 absolutely essential records. The goat.
This is closer, but still too bright.
Yup that's it. The version i had to work from in the Encyclopedia was much more maroon than red.
I think the panel i painted was from the Nus series.
As an adult living in Toronto i went to a comic book store once and asked where I could find some stuff by him. The clerk barely looked up and just said "Spain." After that I stuck to record stores.
As a kid I had this huge book called The World Encyclopedia of Comics. Enric Sio was a name that stuck. Also a name I've never seen anyone post on social media. Don't have the book anymore because the goddamn thing weighed about 10 pounds, but I tried to paint one of my fave panels of his once.
Flabba Holt kills it on this one. Scientist brings the bass up.
