Famine has now been officially declared in Gaza City.

Families and children are dying of starvation, and this is just not a tragedy - it is genocide in plain sight.

There must be an immediate ceasefire, urgent aid into Gaza, and sanctions on Israel.

Anti-genocide protesters and demonstrators sit in front of St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, resilient and strong as heavy rain soaks them. The group 12 diverse folks each hold placards with key messages of the campaign against genocide in Palestine and Gaza. They are the first of thousands joining the demonstration in Scotland and across the UK today.

The turnout for today's protest in Edinburgh as part of national UK demonstrations is big and heartening.

We made eye contact, I smiled and said nothing. He smiled back and gave a nod as if to say "thank you for not making a fuss".

A big blue sky with fluffy clouds above a sandy beach. At the bottom lefthand corner of the frame, a woman and small boy can be seen crouching over tiny plastic dinosaurs in the sand. They are making stories with the dinosaurs, digging them moats and trenches, and giving them big bold lives of adventure.

Yesterday morning was playing dinosaurs on the beach with nephew-in-law, and smiling the biggest smiles when I saw happy dogs frolicking in the sea and sand.

Scotland gave us a chilly summer Sunday, and we rose to the challenge 🌦⛱️🦕🦖🦮🐕

re MIT news--DEI office shut down and censure of student voice--it does not surprise. I've long seen PR opportunism at MIT and elsewhere (I'm an alum) in corporate "DEI." When I've insisted on Indigenous relevance, I've seen unwillingness to engage, disavowals, or deer-in-the-headlights silence.
