Similar photo to the first one of Winky, only now she's risen up and looking up at the sky with her one eye. It's one of my favorite photos of her.

Four years ago today. Spending time with Winky the Pirate Girl, known as "the little girl" at the time. We weren't in a good position to adopt a second cat. I desperately wanted her but I also wanted her to be safe and arranged for a friend in Manhattan to take her in. Winky had other ideas.

Four Years Ago Today (part 2): That night Sarah opened the front door and the little cat ran inside the house. Our kid made the decision, "Let's try it and see how it goes". I called my friend who was going to adopt her and explained and she gave us her blessing. Winky's been ours since.
