Crawling around in a Maize field this afternoon (with permission!) I came upon this distinctive expedient scraper.

It appears to be mineral staining, which is not uncommon in the flint we find here in Cornwall, (Originating from the Haig Fras deposit). The colour red was definitely favoured in this roundhouse!

This weekend, after years of fieldwalking, I finally excavated my very first lithic! This lovely hammerstone with its distinctive iron stained cortex was a welcome sight in my baulk.
