2/2 This grew out of years of conversations I've had with some of the most thoughtful scholars on the matter, including @chrisbstringer.bsky.social , @cecileduflot.bsky.social , @vivek123.bsky.social , @lukegldng.bsky.social + the Origins of Humankind with @anthropogeny.org
Grateful to all !π
And many thanks to @dremmabird.bsky.social for help with this!

Morphometric and phylogenetic analyses suggest it is an early member of H. longi clade, which includes Denisovans

Reconstruction of Yunxian 2, identified as an early member of the Homo longi (Dragon Man) lineage.
This group also contains other Chinese and Denisovan fossils. Phylogenetic analyses suggest heidelbergensis, neanderthalensis, sapiens and longi lineages all originated more than 1 mya.
