Newsflash, the games have always been this level of corny B movie nonsense since the beginning. It never was JUST THE ZOMBIES. RE1 had giant snake, giant plant monster, giant shark. RE2 had Mr. X, Lickers, Giant Alligator. RE3 had Nemesis.

I gotta rant about this. I am so sick and fucking tired of some people in the Resident Evil community, specifically those that are like "The series went off the rails" or "Its not scary anymore" or "I wish it was just about the zombies again".

So I am now completely obsessed with this Donghua Lord of Mysteries. I've said before how much I love Bloodborne, and this is the most Bloodborne coded thing I've ever seen. Lovecraftian horror, magic, and steampunk in a Victorian style England. I'm gonna binge this so bad

As someone who played the closed playtest, I agree. I felt like KF3 was missing the soul and bloody heart of 2. And at $40 for a co-op focused game, that's just too much, when so many co-op games are taking up my time.

I'm feeling less and less sore too! But it's so clear my upper body is the weakest. Which makes me sad as I used to work in construction. It also makes me super determined to keep it up

First full week of exercising complete. Me and the boys are feeling it, but at the same time I'm getting way more energy back every day and feeling more and more positive.

Right. I do think though there is legal grounds for going after a company that turned off a game without there being a EULA or some transparency on initial purchase that said that there is the possibility the ability to use said product would be void.

Games that never got a "sunset" that I feel cheated and miss them terribly; Wildstar, Virtual Magic Kingdom, Pirates of the Carribean Online, and Battleborn. Yes communities and mods took care of some of these games, but no official support means they can still die anytime.

I end this with I love what SKG is trying to do. I hate the fact that we need these definitions in place, and it sucks knowing all my Steam games aren't technically mine that I own. But this type of business on all fronts from DRM to service model games needs to be in big bold letters on the pages.

All this to be said is that if I as a consumer, bought a video game, with the understanding that I own this, but only later found that I had to agree to it later down the line that I needed to give up my right to ownership in order to use the thing I own, is insane. It's scummy.

I say all this knowing live service will likely never go away anytime soon, but also with the knowledge that yes we do need protections in place for the games that updated themselves during their lifespan now because they were initially sold as products NOT services.

I believe a video game that has no intention of sunsetting itself needs to label itself as a service first, and create more visible transparency outside of EULA that you are paying for a service to a product that can terminate itself anytime.

Because of all this, there was a huge miscommunication over the last several years of the rise in digital age of what is a product, and a service. Because of this and what wasn't clearly defined, we aren't sure without digging into EULAs what is owned and what is a service.

The issue is, a game has never rejected the label of "live service only" and still sells itself as a product under the label video game. Because it is sold as a product, it should've been treated as such, as something you own. There's a huge disconnect on EULAs and other legal terms.

A service is defined as something you pay for, but do not necessarily own. To call games like The Crew, Fortnite, and Valorant games I feel is no longer right, but just call them live services. Does it feel grody and wrong to call them that? Yes. But unfortunately, that is what they are; services.

However, at that point, they shouldn't have been sold under the modicum of a "video game". A game implies it is a product to own, when they are in fact, a "live service" not just under the title we've been calling them for all these years, but what we are actually putting money into.

I believe yes, it is wildly insane to consider that we should expect publishers/developers to have a sunset on every online game currently available right now as the sheer amount of work to rewrite some games code is crazy. Unfortunately, taking an online only game and making it work offline is alot

I'm starting to see discussions around things like Pirate Software and SKG picking back up on my FYP so I'll throw my two cents in on this debacle. I believe both sides have merit, and this isn't a bullshit centrist approach I'm taking here, I'll explain everything in this thread.
