Saw a thoughtful thread about AI, don't want to QT or argue. But. The biggest rage factor with LLMs is the people who, because genAI is transformative for coding, think it's transformative for everything else, because they devalue every other form of work and labor and knowledge.

It's a question of understanding how to reach people where they are at. Maybe people are not talking about degrees celsius, GHG, emissions, etc. But, it is not far from, "I hate my utility and my bills are high," to, "more renewables and different ownership structures would be good for me."

This is why I don't agree that climate has taken a backseat. Utility bills are equity issues _but they are also_ climate issues.

Crypto is only important electorally because the industry's strategy is to strategically flood races with PAC spending on ads completely unrelated to crypto.

Government surveys have repeatedly shown that very few people own crypto (and even fewer care about it as an issue).

Seems like a smart move for climate people is to organize these folks and stop with the, "AI is good, actually," takes.

This paper is excellent and shows how the fossil fuel industry deploys false solutions- CCS, hydrogen, and CDR- in order to further entrench and protect fossil fuel hygemony
