I finished re-capping my RCA Victrola 77U. I'm contemplating the refinish. The lid is crispy and needs to a complete sanding/re-stain.

I wondered what it would look like with high-gloss black on the lid and front grates. Here's current vs. mock-up

This Christmas season, I’ve been trying to practice listening more than speaking...

Trying to notice the signal beneath the noise...
the quiet things that insist on being heard.

The horror isn't that the scorpion stings. That's its nature.

The horror is that the frog knew, and carried it anyway.

And then became a scorpion itself.

We "fortify our precious lies" even as we drown.

Working theory: It's not hope that "this time will be different." It's pride. We can't admit we were wrong, so we double down.
