My perspective has greatly changed regarding this since being a coach and seeing the issue grow from an outsiders perspective. It is so difficult when only a few teachers are implementing changes or upholding the standard. Especially with cell phones! #edsi6321

Same! I learned this my first year teaching. I almost did not make it through the first semester because I was working for hours each day at home. After my first year, I set clear boundaries and rarely budge. #BuildHOPEedu

Balance is so important as well. Anytime my work-life balance is out of sorts, my mental health is impacted. #BuildHOPEedu

Mental wellness helps people build success because when they are mentally healthy, they can be the best versions of themselves. It is important for teachers and students to be mentally engaged and healthy. Being intentional about teachers' loads and time is an imperative first step. #BuildHOPEedu

The most impactful PD I've been to was about formative assessing. They provided multiple super engaging activities to use to assess standards well beyond what's typical. I was able to use take it back to teachers immediately and it was great! #edsi6321

Ensuring those leading PLCs understand the importance or sub pop groups in general would help close the gap. Too often, we are tempted to focus on the overall mastery levels of the group. #edsi6321 #edusky

Strong, intentional coteaching models! The days of an inclusion teaching standing in the corner should be over! Training teachers on requesting and using accommodations can be very helpful. Especially our new teachers. #edsi6321 #edusky

It can be so difficult to hold on to the teacher perspective being out of the classroom. Treating teachers as the experts they are in every regard is important. Include them in decision making, curriculum development, and assessment. #edsi6321

This is an interesting question. As someone who is hoping to move towards principalship soon I would hope a mentor is knowledgeable on current best practices and available. One of the issues I see in many teacher mentor programs is the mentors don't have time to truly be involved. #edsi6321

I think being realistic about student identity is very important too. For too often I see teachers who struggle to relate to kiddos because their teaching style is for students 20 or 30 years ago. Being modern and tech forward is important for engagement.
