Honestly now that I think about it I would much rather do a computer science project from my classes over playing splatoon. Hell, id honestly rather do a calculus assignment.

Granted, playing splatoon before also felt like a chore or schoolwork for example. It felt repetitive and like busy work for the sake of doing "good" or whatever. I didnt wanna play soloq or play pickups at all. But I still did because it let me improve similar to studying getting me better scores.

Without that goal i have legit nothing that provides any amount of satisfaction/fun hence why I basically havent played since. I dont see a world where im not quitting after LUTI but I'll see. LUTI genuinely feels like a chore i just need to done for the sake of not disappointing my team.

I think my problem is this. Unlike the other games I play right now, my dopamine purley came from getting closer to my goal/reaching it (Midlevel) where the game in itself was stale as hell. I had no intrest in competitve splatoon, I had intrest in only reaching midlevel.

I wonder if my spark will ever come back, splatoon feels so boring to me rn and idk if anything will ever fix it. Im surprised my ADHD hyperfixations came back to splatoon after I quit for 2 years after s3 launch but that fixation ship sailed away months ago and I have no intrest in this game at all

Never once have I won an event, and now im realizing ill never get the feeling of being upon that podium, I really am regretting it.

Honestly makes me regret never playing skill caps, open levels wernt enjoyable to me, just something I did to get better.

The midlevel curse is so real because im realizing there really is nothing for me to aim for anymore for quite a while. I just have to queue the open level events and get elimed round 3-4 and move on. Nothing really changed except I can reasonably get past another set or two now.

Like to get from d9 to d4 it took me 1200+ hours, a full year of open level events, bashing my head against a wall, analyzing stuff, etc. I dont have it in me to pull that for another year to make +3, or whatever else there really is.

Sure I have a couple half-assed goals like making + Server, but 2 things come up

A. I dont have any natrual talent for splatoon, and I dont have the time and energy to grind as much as I would have to if I wanted to make it there
B. + server is a popularity contest and not indicative of skill

Feels extremely similar to when I quit GD back in 2024, beat a level that took me 4 months and after that I didnt have a goal or anything in mind and I dropped improving at the game for casual play to outright quitting.

I hate to say it but without a goal the spark is really gone for me, I genuinly look forward to like playing other shit and splatoon feels like a nothing burger. I dont know really what I need to get me to want to grind again. Like splatoon is still fun but I dont want to play it

Debating recording a commentary video on my journey to midlevel and my thoughts on it, more so for my own records since this has been super sentimental to me. Honestly would be super funny to put CS2 gameplay over it instead of yknow, splatoon.
