The purples and blues of the sky also have a red tinge reflecting the colour of the lovers in their passionate embrace. This symmetry is highlighted as the blue starlight on their bodies reflects the colours of sea & sky. Seabirds wheel through the air, with one perched as 'guardian' of the scene. Flowers rise beside the lovers. This is both a cosmic, as well as an intimate and elemental scene, echoic of Neruda's verse
