Environmental economist at Boise State University. I am all in on non-market valuation, land use and spending my time skiing and mountain biking with the family. I’m unashamedly addicted to improvisational music of almost any variety. www.leeparton.com

Apparently my vintage brought us the adjustable rate mortgage, the California roll and “smoke and mirrors.” This all checks out.

The Tension in Climate Science Between Mitigation and Adaptation A fight over whether climate science is taking political positions is really about whether eliminating fossil fuels is more important than adapting

interesting comment on how the intended audience of a paper (adaptation vs mitigation) may influence the research design and framing of the results:

My research plan follows the running plan once articulated by a friend. “We don’t have to run far, and we don’t have to run fast, we’ve got to run just a little”

In Raleigh there were several opportunities in tech and healthcare for internships, SAS comes to mind. I would recommend applying to the pathways program at a local govt agency if that is on the table.

A worthy accomplishment none the less! (I can’t seem to spell on here, can I blame the platform?)

#Econsky, specifically #JMCs in #Economics. In the recent #CSWEP newsletter we announced a new initiative: organized practice job market interviews (the "elevator pitch" portion) at the upcoming #SEA.

Interested candidates: the details on page 18: www.aeaweb.org/content/file...

It’s probably easier to just ask @cjwich.bsky.social for a title.

📈📉 #envecon I’m looking for research that uses environmental justice indicators/indices to measure outcomes. Also interested in best practices/research related to constructing EJ measures.

Economists! We're hiring @UVABatten

The search is in applied (domestic-focused) micro.

We're hiring an assistant prof in public policy and economics. Rookies or advanced assistants welcome.

I'm on the committee, so feel free to shoot me any Q's.

To those teaching/applying econometrics: Remember that almost any cross-sectional estimation method can be applied to panel data. I still see confusion on this point. For example, "fracreg does not allow for panel data." One needs to cluster of course. And the Mundlak device is usually warranted.

Hello #econsky!
I am an associate professor at UNC Greensboro studying (mostly) health economics. My recent work has been around using human mobility data to study reproductive health and public health policy. But be on the lookout for more work around higher education policy!

I create SQL databases for some county assessor data and PATSTAT. It makes it easier to update the data, automate processes and reconstruct datasets when I need additional variables from the data. Also, having consistent queries written to load data across platforms is good for my brain.

@sjdundas.bsky.social and I find that you can undo a policy induced adaptation “paradox” by making climate change illegal. I’ll let Colbert explain the policy setting www.cc.com/video/w6itwj....

Hi all! I’m a PhD candidate 📣on the market 📣this year. I study the criminal justice system and labor market in the US.
Beyond research, I enjoy singing, cats, glassblowing, reading, and bad TV (you’ll see in my JMP thread how this last hobby became a research question!).
