The problem has its core in American gullibility coupled with platforms that are built to super-drive marketing into the palm of our hands.
It’s more than mere disinformation, but the tailored delivery of such.

Having said that, a ton of quite innocent, non-political shit happens on Facebook. It hasn't become Gab or Rumble yet. And there are still plenty of left-leaning boomers and Gen Xers on there. It's not like FB is deleting non-MAGA content...it's just that its rewarding & stoking right wing outrage.
I am not going to waste my time doing work that FB should pay actual editors to do...that is, doing quality control on the ocean of inaccurate & intentionally deceptive drek they algorithmically amplify on their platform. But it's worth remembering that FB is a right wing propaganda site by design.
For some reason unknown to me, Meta just authorized me to participate in their "community notes" program. I just gave it a test run and the first 10 stories it flagged as needing "community note" fact checking were stories that coded as leftist or anti-Trump. Very fair and balanced Zuck!
