Search-and-rescue crews were “flying blind” trying to rescue survivors from deadly tornadoes that hit the Midwest last week.
Why? Because Kristi Noem hadn't approved FEMA’s $200,000 contract with a tornado-tracking tool.
But she had time to spend $220 million on anti-immigrant ads. Priorities.
Ossoff: "The WH put out a video depicting this war as a video game. When service members are returning in flag-draped coffins, & even more have lost limbs or suffered brain injuries or are fighting for their lives, this WH treats war like a game. It's a disgrace. And it speaks to a moral rot."
hold up aren’t these are the same people who thought getting rid of FEMA was a baller move
Wired does what the Washington Post won't.

I'm sure people like this think they are anti-Zionists, but by saying that Jews around the world are valid targets of someone whose grievances are with the government of Israel, they are fully reinforcing the logic of the furthest right-wing Zionists.
They asked him if he had family in Mexico they could help emigrate to the US (he doesn't, because he's not Mexican). They offered him money, and he refused that, too. As they released him, they shot him.
I love people complaining about timeline content on here like you don't directly control the content that makes it into your timeline. Curate better?
Big Wall St banks saying oil flows will be back to normal in a few days, then revising to a few weeks followed by a full recovery, made me think of the part of the Big Short where Michael Burry accuses the banks of waiting to mark down mortgage-backed securities until they’ve exited their positions.
The funniest thing about the Trump admin is how all of the "eff your feelings" and "cry harder lib" alpha males turn out to be the whiniest saddest snowflakes, unable to handle a negative picture and walking about in ill-fitting shoes to not upset Trump.

Hubs and I were wondering the other day if the Venn diagram of Friends super fans and people who like BBT is just one overlapping circle.
voluntarily joined ICE in April 2025 and is proud of her work there. voluntarily became a special AUSA during ICE surge. had a meltdown in court that, while entertaining and confirmed a lot of people's priors, was revealing about her character and abilities, not in a good way. sure, run for office!
This is the funniest stupid little thing. One of those "if I don't laugh at it, I'll start screaming and never stop" moments.
It's always been one of my favorite little cult classics. A very underrated horro/thriller/sci-fi film. Also visually gorgeous.
Some folks treated me like a naive child for believing we had the money to cancel a portion of student loan debt
I really wanted to know more about Renee Good, killed by ICE in January. Fortunately, my editor allowed me to take some time to do a deep dive into who she was before she died. Read and listen to what I found out about her from her Colorado tribe here: www.cpr.org/2026/03/11/r...
This.
And also then people wonder why we had a painkiller issue in areas with very little affordable dental care.
Some hair-raising receipts in this thread
Another word you might use for it is "looting".
"This appears to be the first administration to take such widespread advantage of taxpayer-funded military housing to accommodate political appointees who do not have a direct connection to the military..."

My boycott of Target is permanent, it moved out of its parents' house and is an independent grown ass MANcott now.

Mollymauk: hookers, drugs, and a cheese plate, and not necessarily in that order.🤑
Caduceus: oh my wild mother, is that a FLUTE made out of a FEMUR that plays SCREAMS 😍
Been working my way through the Mighty Nein campaign in my downtime when I need background entertainment while I craft. So far, I have two favorites and they are polar opposites, but bless you, Taliesin Jaffe, for the weirdest dudes under the D&D sun.
At no time in history has anyone successfully sustained a farming system where that surplus is personal. You have to sell your surplus/exchange for services. It's a system that developed in the context of a wider society.
Homesteading irks me - there's nothing wrong with growing food and raising chickens or whatever. It can be a rewarding activity! But the ethos bothers me. Farming has one purpose, and that's to create a *societal* surplus so that civilization can develop.
Also, in modern agriculture systems, why don't smaller farmers and ranchers get to keep more of their profits? You can't make farming great again, because it was never great in the first place - but we can make it a viable way to earn a decent living.
Though I do think it's worth looking at the root of this longing for "the simple life" and how we can incorporate elements of that - lessening capitalistic pressures and allowing for more time to pursue a slower life.
Farming is hard, inglorious work and it was never the cozy ideal folks want it it be. The sooner people realize that nostalgia is just them wanting to be kids again so they don't have to worry about paying bills, the better we'll all be.
