Fortunately, we don't currently rely on this funding. Donations to our work at www.noemipress.org help us stay independent, daring to push forward despite despite despite it all.
In the past, we've received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), which is a miniscule portion of the national budget & under threat of being eliminated. This year, NEA guidelines were changed, and the guidelines would prevent us from publishing any one of our award-winning books.
I’m so proud of the work I do with @noemipress.bsky.social and grateful for the freedom that being an independent press affords us: to publish urgent, important work from poets who are usually overlooked.
Just eight months from now, my first book, WRECKS, finalist for the @Noemi_Press Book Awards, will be in the world!
