Ironically, it was on April 28 in 1999 that Sir Alf passed away, aged 79.

Mick McCarthy's Town beat Brighton 2-0 at The Amex and continued their march towards the play-off places. Tommy Smith headed home at he back post before a jinking Jonny Williams home was steered home by Daryl Murphy before a packed away end.

Bill McGarry's men comfortably beat Norwich City 2-0 at Portman Road thanks to goals from Ray Crawford and Billy Baxter. Baxter won the old Division 2 title in 1960β61, the Division 1 title in 1961β62 and the Division 2 Championship in 1967β68.
