Provincetown in 50 degree fall weather is perfect. Lovely time walking around town tonight with Brenda.

Lake Louise in Banff National Park is a beautiful place, but a crowded tourist area. With limited parking available, you really have to get here by 8:00 AM to find a spot. We ended up taking a bus tour for the day, which allowed us to visit a number of sites at the park. Lake Louise is stunning.

My favorite lake in the Canadian Rockies is beautiful Moraine Lake, located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, Banff National Park. The lake is fed by glaciers, which are responsible for the rock flour, sediment from the glaciers that is suspended in the water and reflects the sunlight.

The most magical spot we visited in the Canadian Rockies was Spirit Island on Maligne Lake in Jasper. The island is sacred and protected land of the Stoney Nakoda, First Nations people.

The water in Maligne Lake is turquoise. It gets its color from the mineral sediment in the glacial meltwater.

We went on a tour of the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park. The icefield includes the Athabasca Glacier, which we toured on the Ice Explorer, a 6-wheel off-road bus.

After the tour of the glacier, we walked the Skywalk, a glass-bottomed platform about 1,000 feet above the Sunwapta Valley.

Athabasca Falls is a waterfall in Jasper National Park on the upper Athabasca River, in Alberta, Canada, and just west of the Icefields Parkway. We were able to visit it last Sunday on our trip through the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

Diana, the weather has been great. Highs in the mid-70s, and lows in the mid-40s at night in some higher-altitude towns like Kamloops and Jasper. I recommend Vancouver and a trip through the Canadian Rockies. You’ll love it.

We stopped at the Othello Tunnels in Hope, BC. In 1914, the tunnels - and bridges - were built by hand through solid granite to make way for a railway, now defunct.

It’s beautiful country out here. Lots of firs and pines and spruces, water the color of turquoise, and lots of granite.

Yesterday we walked around Stanley Park.

It was a beautiful day for a walk. We walked the Seawall, saw the totem poles (which are replicas because of deterioration but spectacular to view), and beautiful trees β€” red cedars, firs, and spruces β€” some over 600 years old.

Yesterday, we visited the Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden in Vancouver. It’s a Ming Dynasty-style garden, designed within a walled residence as a peaceful, tranquil space to sit, relax, and enjoy nature. Then we went into Chinatown and had Chinese BBQ.

We made it to Vancouver, and spent our first full day here going to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Tour. The bridge sways a lot as you walk across it. Brenda was a wee bit anxious (terrified?) as she crossed it. Despite that, she even enjoyed herself for the most part. It was a fun day.

This weekend Chelsea is celebrating the Battle of Chelsea Creek, which happened 250 years ago. I love this quote from The Boston Globe: "’We have a right to be in this land, and that's the beauty of the Battle of Chelsea Creek,’said Lourdes Alvarez, a native of Uruguay who is a manager for Chelsea.”

Diversity, equity & inclusion programs create environments where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. This wholesale slashing of β€œDEI” programs has many underlying reasons, but I haven’t heard a good one yet. I’m boycotting places that have cut β€œDEI” programs, even though they don’t have to
