So... the "unlimited" data plan ran out of data. I'm now kneecapped at 5/5 MBit for the remainder of the month. Stream will be quite compromised, but I'll do my best :)

In Sweden we don’t call it ”daylight savings time” but ”Summer Time” and ””Winter Time” and I think that makes more den than daylight savings….. *until* you realize that that means the Winter Time must be daylight wasting time and then it all adds up.

Today is Christmas Eve, and since that’s our main day of celebration here in Sweden I wish you all a God Jul! Or Happy Sunday if you prefer. A good day either way.

Diabetes has been a mess, but I’ll try to be online for a bit tomorrow at 09:30 UTC (am), seeing how it is a Monday after all ;)

For some reason when you get a long cable specifically for a use, it’s usually just too short and if you’re getting a short one, it ends up way too long.

I guess this is why we measure stuff in advance ;) But it was just some USB cables this time, and fortunately I got an even longer one as well.

Unexpected emotional moment today when I checked out MS Flight Sims new Nordic world update with a more true to
Life representation of Gothenburg. Turns out that being able to return to the city I spent about 18 of my best years in for the first time in 8 years made me cry. Who’d’ve thunk.

So now I have several days ahead of me where I barely dare to sleep due to not trusting anything about my diabetes and constantly have to tweak things to find my new “normal”. So I apologize for being rather invisible outside of streams and rather … odd … on stream ;) Will try to stream Monday too.

And it went on and on, I actually threw away 7 out of 9 pump pods I attached in 3 days, which is normally the lifespan of a single pod, and wasted two bottles of insulin in a single 24 hour period. Things are looking better now, but as with every time stuff this drastic happens, my base dose is off.

I’ve had some nightmare diabetes days the past days. It started by one pump going into a vein, greatly increasing the speed and effect of all insulin, giving me a 12 hour hypo through the night. Then I think the next one did the the opposite, building up a depot of insulin, and releasing it slowly.

Interesting stream today. First Drizzt threw up during the startup (he’s fine btw), then at the 1 hour brb something crashed so hard my computer had restarted when I came back, and I’m still a bit paranoid as what happened. The rest of the stream was great though :)

Since my diabetes is so sensitive, I do not adhere to daylight savings. This means that when you change your clock, my stream will still start around 09:30 UTC, it just happens to be 10.30 CET after Sunday. I hope this does not cause too much inconvenience and that I’ll see you again on Monday.

Today, after about 10 months of streaming on Twitch, I realized why my camera always have looked worse in OBS than any other app. It captured it at 640x480 by default and upscaled it. Here I thought it was grainy because of my low light. Ooops.

This week, Zar has been away on a conference. I had hoped to be able to squeeze in an evening stream to fight the solitude, but between extra house responsibilities (mostly dog related) and a horrible week for sleep diabetes wise, that never happened. Will likely be a sleepy stream tomorrow. 0930UTC

I love side quests and have a completetionist mindset. But some games don’t even try to justify the fillers. If you want good side quests look at BG3 and older BioWare games. If you want good side quests and accessible enough fillers to still feel worth it, Witcher 3 and CP2077. Bad example: Ubisoft

RE modern game design. Too many games today rely on empty filler quests to prolong an otherwise great gaming experience. Imagine how obvious this can be if you can only play an hour (or in a game with good flow) at the time due to ME. I spend months beating a game where weeks can go without story.

Any other disturbance, such as visiting the hospital (20 min drive away) and it takes about a week to even reach that level of activity. A normal 24h cycle at least 75% is spent in bed. The days after a routine hospital visit that number is closer to 90%

How much does my ME limit my life? A lot. To illustrate, here’s a normal day in short.

Having computer issues and be annoying. Having computer issues when your small remnants of a life resolves around it and any troubleshooting leaves to pain and cognitive shutdown is absolutely devastating. Especially when the computer is one of my biggest creative and financial exertion in years.

At the start of the year, I tried streaming on Twitch to help with the social isolation Myalgic Encephalomyelitis easily force upon you. While the cost is high, the chance of actually speaking with random people have me looking forward to every single Monday and Friday morning. Welcome in @ 0930 UTC

Doing the same thing over and over expecting a new result can either be a sign of insanity or you’re just trying to get Windows to play nicely with HDR. After reinstalling GPU drivers my HDR colors were completely scuffed…. Until they weren’t any more. SDR worked fine the whole time.

This is Drizzt. He’s a 3 year old White Swiss Shepherd and he’s my main company when my wife is at work. Unfortunately my ME prevents me to train him to become a certified assistance/ medical alert dog like Plankton was before I got ME, but he can still alert me when I have low bloodsugar.

Note how the word fatigue never made it into the description. It’s not a major symptom of ME on its own, rather if you had all those symptoms listed above, you’d be constantly drained as well ;). That’s why generally tend to abbreviate ME without the CFS, even if it can lead to confusion.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) in 300 characters. Any activity helps contribute to a drain of energy causing muscular and neurological pain, cognitive impairment, vision degradation, loss of coordination, sensory sensitivity, medicinal sensitivity and other issues. Energy recovery is very slow.

Hello World!

I’m whale, I used to work with marine mammals. Now I’m disabled with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis after a traffic accident and can barely leave the vicinity around the house due to the costs to my body. I’m open about this to raise better understanding and awarenes, not to gain sympathy.

Does desperation count? As in I desperately hope they’ll find a cure for ME and diabetes before I die. In that case I doubt I will ever be an adult :D
