Which is exactly why I called it centrist populism

Sorry, what are you talking about?

I’m not complaining, I am praising!

Especially when Reform’s deputy leader is in Dubai more than his constituency

Certainly part of what I mean, as well as β€œthis opens some tricky questions regarding dual nationality holders” or some such, but as a rhetorical line for the peanut gallery it’s pretty solid.

FWIW I reckon this sort of thing is what centrist populism looks like? And I can think of all sorts of reasons why this stuff isn’t maybe *practical* but I can’t deny it’s emotional appeal

Sounds to me like he’s calling them citizens of nowhere

I do not believe Tom has his finger on the pulse of public opinion here, I have to say

She’s trapped and under attack in Dubai - while back home in Chichester her daughters are furious, the labradoodles are sick and, worst of all, she’s left her Mounjaro pen…in the fridge… and you’re LAUGHING?

Yeah the Tory grassroots - members, voters, donors of time and money, even their media ecosystem, all of these are old. Where is the Murdoch press going to position itself in 2034, given Rupert’s advanced decrepitude?

Lose enough seats in 2029, start losing the donor class to Reform, and her replacement also having the Chasing Reform Votes Is The Future delusion and they could absolutely go down below 10%.

Yeah, not sure she can shed much more *this* time around. Maybe down to the mid-teens but I don’t see anything past that.

The interesting thing is what happens to the Tory vote the election after that. Say they continue the British party trend of Going Off On One For Several Terms Of Opposition

Lots of non-white people globally are racist to people who are also non-white every day

You should definitely go to the naval museum

It’s her world historic combination of insanity, racism, incompetence and arrogance that makes me like Kemi so much

I feel that Warsi talking about institutional Islamophobia in the party (which may have merit, not questioning her or belittling it) is really different from the actual leader visibly hating your minority group? Not even β€œpracticing policies which discriminate against”, but vocally hating?

Looking forward to the gung-ho supporters of the war on the British right blaming the price rise this brings on net zero policies

(Certainly most British left wing voters)

I mean, you could probably drop the β€œsince the late 2000s” bit, it’s broadly been the default position of most British voters since the great reform act, a few occasional flurries aside

She did it with the by-election where her candidate lost their deposit, less than 48 hours before this statement

I think the Chinese economy and society - for example - isn’t *built* on the things you point out, and the purpose of moving there is not solely dependent on their tax regime so I think that’s somewhat different (I do get your point, we all have different red lines)
