A grid of four cropped illustrations with a medieval theme. Top-left, two male knights look at each other as one ties a bandana around the other's suit of armor, the bandana matching his own clothing. Top-right, two women embrace with one holding the other from behind. A highly detailed pattern covers the left side of the illustration, mimicking metalwork of the time. Bottom-left, two knights in intricate, detailed outfits gently embrace. There is a border that looks like stained glass, along with other intricate framing details. Bottom-right, two masculine characters embrace leaned up against a tree overlooking a field of sheep, one sleeping in the other's arms.

Who doesn’t love a good medieval setting with some gay knights?

Queerness has existed for millennia, so here’s a snapshot of a few of the Medieval illustrations from our queer zine!

Since we know shipping can be expensive in some parts of the world (like the Philippines), keep in mind that we also offer discounted packs of 5 or 10 books on the Kickstarter, if you want to do group orders with friends! πŸ‘πŸ‘¬

A grid of three images, with two on top and one across the bottom, all depicting queer Filipino people. Top-left: two women are about to kiss, dressed in soft white and orange, one of which is wearing more masculine traditional clothing. Top-right: two Igorot warriors are kissing in front of a brightly lit sky, a rainbow framing the top of the image. Both wear traditional Indigenous clothing styles. Bottom: two characters, one transmasc and one transfemme, stand in front of a mirror together, their reflections showing their desired gender presentations as they try on different clothing styles. Another character sits nearby, watching them, while also casually holding a rifle as they plan a revolution.

From queer revolutionaries to Indigenous warriors, here’s a sneak peek into the Filipino queer history celebrated in the "We've Always Been Here" zine! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

a coloured, digital illustration showing my oc Arlo from the hips up. They have their back turned but their head is in profile and they're looking back at the viewer. they're wearing a white shirt with puffy sleeves and a fancy vest with a back cut-out. their glittery gloves reach their elbows and in their right hand, they're holding a fan. their hair is in a fancy updo with two curls hanging out and they're wearing a hat adorned with flowers. behind them is an imposing manor with bright, glowing windows and marble statues. on the steps ascending to the door, there's groups of people, some looking back at arlo. an assortment of rough sketches, showing arlo in various outfits. official graphic promoting our kickstarter, showing various illustrations contained within, as well as the cover of the book.

sneak peak of my illustration for the "we've always been here" zine! @taplingzines.bsky.social
It was such a joy to work on, I even learned how to use the csp perspective ruler o.0!
I wanted to design an outfit for arlo that would confuse the hell out of all the other cisnormative socialites :3

A grid of five images, with four longer ones circling around one in the center. Top-left, two women in the pre-Hispanic Amazon swim together, embracing in the water. Top-right, two SΓ‘mi women snuggle together inside a lavvu (a type of traditional tent-like home). Bottom-right, two women from La Tolita Island in Ecuador wear traditional jewelry, shown at the shoulders as they walk and smile together. Bottom-left, two masculine characters share kisses on the nose, one bending over the other from behind. In the center, two Ticuna women embrace in a boat while wearing attire from their recent wedding, including multiple different types of feathers and jewelry.

Our queer history art book celebrates all sorts of cultures across the world. This of course includes plenty of Indigenous queerness! πŸͺΆ

A traditional watercolor work in progress, showing two Black men sitting in a bathtub in the royal baths of the Alhambra. They both have cloths around their waists and are peering at each other, about to kiss. One has a cane and burn scars on his leg. The watercolor is somehow shaded so well that the shape of their body and the way light from above falls on it is all clear! It’s just a little pale for their final skin tone (as it’s only one layer of pigment).

Another WIP picture from when I was painting my piece for @taplingzines.bsky.social !

I have no idea how I managed to make their skin look so realistic in just one layer of watercolor honestly ✨

A grid of six illustrations. First, a trans woman in traditional Jewish clothing does embroidery outside. Second, a Korean couple kisses, with the one in men's clothing showing in the mirror as her true transfemme self. Third, a Polish gay couple wear traditional clothing, one of which is transmasc. Fourth, a transmasc person with his chest bound in cloth gets a hand-poked tattoo on a sailing ship. Fifth, a T4T Victorian couple share a kiss on the nose as they find euphoria in swapping their clothing. And lastly, a transmasc person sews his own clothing, reclaiming the traditionally feminine craft for himself.

πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ Trans joy and resilience is more important than ever. Here’s a glimpse into a few of the historical illustrations of trans people thriving, loving, and being loved in our queer history art book! πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

A five-image grid with two squares on top and three on the bottom, all featuring cropped art of dogs from the We've Always Been Here zine. All are rendered in very different styles, two are traditional art while three are digital, and they are in a wide variety of poses.

Throughout our zine's Kickstarter, we'll be sharing collections of queer and cultural identities (and some other themes) featured in the book!

But, to start, let's show off some of the dogs of the zine! Aren't they all so cute? 🐢
