Blackberry/blueberry strudel

It had been a busy summer in the garden. Made a tomatoe pie!! Didn't have a pie crust, but used Filo instead. It was pretty good and had enough to make a blueberry/blackberry strudel.
Hope everyone is having a great summer. I am so ready for the 'ber months!! 🍁🍁🍁🎃🦃🎄

I am so upset and angry. My patients will suffer due to this horrible bill. We must vote them out.

Nothing too exciting. Just some sourdough discard crackers.

Last weeks bread!!
One fed, one not, before baking. I kind of liked the one that was not fed!! Had a chewy crust and was more sour.
The one that was fed, was lighter with a crusty crusty.
Both, delicious.
It is a never ending experiment.

Another loaf of sourdough hot out of the oven. Probably my best one yet.😋

And some homemade molasses with candied ginger.

It is cold 🥶 and rainy!!
It was 71 degrees yesterday (false spring) and 38 today.
Much needed comfort food.
Vegetarian Spaghetti with plenty of mushrooms, onions, garlic and spices, topped with freshly grated parmason.

There is a scene in the SOM where Max says " what us going to happen is going to happen. We cant help it, we must accept it" and the Captain replied " Max, don't you ever say that again. We must help it"
I relate to this scene so much these days.

I have often referred to the Sound of Music as reference of Pre WW2 Austria, as a comparison to what we are experiencing now.
It was not all the "fluffiness"
And sunshine and roses that it is in the musical.
Actually, their last days before the occupation were quite terrifying.
Highly recommend.

Roasted veggies for the week.

What to do with left over sourdough bread. Why make croutons, of course. Lots of butter and some everything but the bagel seasoning. Perfect for soups and salads.(and snacking) I will probably put half of these in the food processor for bread crumbs.

Tried a new sour dough recipe today. It's an all in one day recipe. I am a bit skeptical about not having a 24 hour fermentation for the bread. 🤔
But I have to admit this was the best sourdough starter I have ever created. Look at those beautiful bubbles.

My 3 sons and I are having a LAZY, hurkledurkle kind of Saturday. We be hurkling and we be durkling. And I have a million things to do today. Oh well.
