New research paper is out! It is based on the 3rd wave of our annual survey of Ukrainian CSOs. This year we have received full responses from over 600 CSOs.

The paper is analysing the dynamics in how the recovery infrastructure is developing & giving recommendations.

Zelenskyy and Trump have agreed a minerals deal – but it will not stop the war in Ukraine For some, helping Ukraine is not worth the possibility of war. But if Russia is allowed to continue unopposed, almost everything is at risk.

"Russia’s intransigence, shown by its inability to make concessions and its city-bombing campaign, means the war will continue, regardless of the minerals deal," writes programme director @jamesnixey.bsky.social in his @chathamhouse.org expert comment.

So far, efforts to hold the perpetrators legally accountable for crimes of Russian aggression against Ukraine have proved insufficient. Ukraine & partners need to seek new approaches to deliver meaningful justice to victims & end the cycle of Russian impunity

How can the international community help?

🔹Keep the question of return of children on international agenda
🔹keep the pressure on russia
🔹help with rehabilitation programmes

To date, Save Ukraine NGO has rescued 614 children.

Analysis of this group shows that 20% experienced guns pointed at them during home searches. 15% experienced questioning by FSB. 30% suffered due to speaking 🇺🇦, 50% reported loneliness & depression in occupation.

Ukrainian children in occupied territories only think abt survival. They have no rights. They're subject to torture & threats. Russian citizenship is forced upon all. Attendance of russian schools is obligatory (for indoctrination). The state invests in children, turning them into [future] soldiers.

Confiscation of immobilized Russian state assets is moral and vital The $300 billion of immobilized assets can only partly address the cost of Ukraine’s survival and reconstruction. There should be no qualms about confiscating it.

'Russia has never in its history paid reparations for any of its illegal conquests. Indeed, frozen assets may be the only Russian funds that ever contribute to repairing the terrible damage its war has caused in Ukraine.'

First USAID closes, then UK cuts aid: what a Western retreat from foreign aid could mean Emergency programmes are already in disarray, while in the long term, revisionist powers like China will seize chances to build influence.

'Unsubstantiated charges made by the Trump team – that USAID was founded on fraud... reinforce autocratic narratives about US and Western aid in authoritarian countries, jeopardizing Western-aligned organizations in those places.
