plus it's the one gacha game where I successfully got every 5 star character AND weapon in the game cuz I played since launch and it was very nice to F2P players but now that won't matter cuz global is gonna be wiped 😭😭😭

I will especially miss Nanna, Phaenomena, and Ji Xia, they were my 3 faves 😭

welp. just had my doordash order blatantly stolen by the driver. an order that I kept simple because I'm low on funds. thankfully I'll get a refund, but it will take a few days to process. and thankfully I had enough money to do a re-order but barely. i hope they spill the broth all over their pants

also the song "Return to Oblivion" turned out to be even more fitting for him than I realized now that I have more context on what lore I had at the time. it truly fits him painfully well. only difference is his situation is more fire aligned than ice but otherwise the accuracy hurts my soul

HSR progress update: I keep saying it but I mean it more than ever now. Phainon deserves nothing but happiness after all of the suffering he has been through. I have cried multiple times over this man cuz that much suffering is too much for one soul to bear

...ya know... in retrospect, I shouldn't be too surprised that I can find what feels like inspiration from FFXIV in Star Rail's story. cuz when looking through my screenshots, I was reminded that this line exists in HSR. Literally even in the same order as "Hear, Feel, Think". FFXIV fans spotted

my comparisons to FFXIV while I play Star Rail continue it seems. Instantly thought of Ardbert's iconic line.

got to trauma, and my emotional damage from joshua's voice acting made a super effective critical hit, holy shit

i'm gonna need to brace my heart since I know there is more pain to come lol seriously tho I heard that their voice acting was amazing for this patch and yeah, can confirm

anyway, enough rambling, point is tiny details matter, and Joshua is nailing even the smallest details of Phainon in their performance and I know they are gonna go super far in voice acting and I look forward to hearing them more in the future!

it's kinda like how one of my favorite animation/character exercises is showing how a character enters a room and sits in a chair. it's such an overlooked thing, but you can tell a lot about a character from this simple action. it's the simple stuff like that that bring characters to life for me.

like i am such a sucker for the subtleties in acting, like a subtle facial expression or posture change, and here with the subtly different tone of voice just saying so much about the character. I love seeing/hearing actors grasp the role so well that they nail the tiniest details often overlooked.

also joshua water's voice acting is giving me so much emotional damage just from hearing the contrast between these states of phainon. went from sounding like a broken man trying to hold it together, to now hearing a ray of sunshine yet to be traumatized. aaaaaa they did such a phenomenal job 😭💞

okay finally jumped back into the story after a really brutal end to my last Currency Wars run

Anyway my current goal (besides trying to get all of the jades cuz omg I wanna pull a lot of things rn) is to somehow clear a game with Mydei and Phainon cuz brainrot ship and I wanna use Phainon for more than a strong placeholder when I'm doing other builds. baby boi deserves so much better ;^;

I dunno why I am so compelled to grind the fuck outta the new weekly mode (technically bi-weekly so I can at least keep working on divergent universe too) when I have never locked in on these modes this hard before. It doesn't even have lore. It's just...surprisingly addicting.
