The 1900 was a seminal year for both schools.

Minnesota outscored its opponents by a combined 299-23 and won the Western Conference title.

Nebraska likewise outscored their opponents 112-20, and Minnesota was the only team to score on them. They also adopted the Cornhusker name this season.

Even in their loss, Nebraska had achieved no small feat: they were the only team to score twice on Minnesota in 1900, and outscored all of Minnesota's other opponents that season, 12-11. Only Chicago and Wisconsin had managed points against the #Gophers that season.

The game kicked off at 2:39 PM and was hard-fought. Nebraska suffered several first-half turnovers and Minnesota scored first. The game was full of penalties and punts. #Gophers led 15-6 at half. Nebraska played faster in the 2nd, outscoring Minnesota 6-5 but the game ended 20-12 for Minnesota.

In a curious aside, Minnesota's pregame parade wound its way to the home of politician and orator William Jennings Bryan. Serenaded by the Minnesota band, Bryan stated he had consulted the entrails of his Thanksgiving turkey for a clue about the game and said "You the Nebraskans are able to win."

For their part, the #Huskers were understandably confident that Minnesota would not find a walkover waiting for them. Aside from the travel, the Huskers practiced behind closed doors and beat the 2nd team soundly.

#Gopher fans could get railroad/game tickets and lodging in Lincoln for $5.45, about 1% of the annual salary for a typical US worker in 1900.

Tickets were in high-demand; this was Minnesota's only Away game of the 1900 season! The team was escorted to the train by the band and 1,500 students.

It would be a Thanksgiving Day game in Lincoln, and the November 25, 1900 Minneapolis Daily Times reported that the Huskers were confident, hearing that heavy snow in Minneapolis was interfering with practices.

Nebraska staff were covering the field in sawdust and straw to prevent freezing.

Minnesota and Nebraska first met on the football field on a Thursday, November 29, 1900 in Lincoln.

For Minnesota, it was the first of 22 seasons for Dr. Henry L. Williams as head coach. *SPOILER ALERT*, he would go undefeated 10-0-2.

Nebraska was also strong at 6-1-1 under coach Walter Booth.

Incidentally, Samsung won the Wildcard round with a 3-0 victory in Game 2 (5th Place team has to win BOTH Wildcard games to advance and Dinos went 1-1).

Lions and Twins are the only playoff teams returning from 2024. 2nd Place Lions won the 2024 #KBO Series, with the 3rd Place Twins as runners-up. Twins won the previous Series, when they also finished 1st in the regular season. All of the teams have won the Series at least once.

Winners will face the 3rd Place SSG Landers in the semi-playoff, and those winners face the 2nd Place Hanwha Eagles in the playoff round. Semi- and playoff rounds are both best of 5.

This format highly favors the regular-season winner, as the #LGTwins will go 3 weeks without playing a game.
