From top to bottom, they read: 'Birdie' by John Pegios; 'Catch and Consume' by Ella T Holmes; 'Hooked' by Caroline Smith; and Frankenstein in Pop Culture: From 1910 to Now (part 3) by Claire Fitzpatrick.
I'm so happy to share that I have a story out in @aurealisfsf.bsky.social issue #185 β¨
'Catch and Consume' is fishy, mysterious, and a little weird π
Just the way I like 'em.

A display of copies of Let This Radicalize You on a table in front of a sign that reads: "Let This Radicalize You offers stories, strategy and heart for the kind of collective care and resistance we're building together today. It helps us move from reacting to organizing. Showing how ordinary people protect each other, build power, and keep hope alive. Take a copy. Read it. Stay connected."
I donated some copies of Let This Radicalize You for distribution at an ICE watch training for folks who want to join school patrols in a nearby neighborhood. Not everyone got a copy, because 120 people showed up for that training tonight. I am endlessly proud of Chicago.

A picture of a ginger kitten with wide eyes looking playfully into the camera. he is sitting in the basket part of a cat tree, and his arms are around the scratching post part.
I don't think I've introduced you all to Commander Onion, but he's a little freak and I adore him

a comic style meme in four squares. Top left: a hand rising out of blue ocean waves, with white text labelling it "This story hates disabled people". Top right: a second hand enters from the left, labeled with white text that reads "escapist readers". Bottom left shows the Escapist Reader hand high-fiving the drowning hand, with white text that reads "you should just read to have fun". The bottom right image shows the original drowning hand falling below the waves.
Sorry I accidentally took a system of oppression seriously when it was meant to be a teehee haha jokey bit of escapism π€ my bad!

04.10.2025 12:30 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0β Many disabled and chronically ill writers seem to value action differently; Where other authors/stories might break out into a bombastic, physically demanding scene to create drama and high staked, many of the submissions chose to play with other narratives
04.10.2025 10:14 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0β Anti-capitalism is a popular politic
β There was a common thread of recognising that everyone has inherent worth, regardless of ability
β Many stories had absolutely phenomenal descriptions of physical sensations and experiences, as well as sensory details
β Most stories featured collective care and interdependence in different ways
β Narratives of unbelonging & trying to find belonging seem to be very popular and much-needed
β A lot of stories were intersectional
π§΅A thread on observations I made while reading dystopian story submissions by disabled & chronically ill writers:
04.10.2025 10:09 β π 7 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0The forever workshop emailed this morning with a line about writing stories that will make people say βdamn, you wrote that? Also, you ok?β. This is the consistent response I get to most things π Especially this one: www.torchliteraryarts.org/post/friday-... #litmag
01.10.2025 13:17 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0This image contains text on a two-toned green background. Header text in white reads "Handwritten message submissions wanted". Below that, a ripped piece of paper has brown handwriting that reads "We will survive. Together!". In the bottom left there is a slightly askew neon green mail sticker with the image of a green gas cloud and a skull. To the right of that is light pink text that reads "Write an empowering and supportive disability justice message, poem, or sentiment. Take a picture & submit to dis-anthology@outlook.com It will be included in a collage inside the upcoming anthology!" At the very bottom, centred, in bright green text, is the message "if you cannot hand write it.I can do that for you! Simply submit it as a typed message."
I want your empowering/supportive/disability justice messages, poems, and sentiments for the Disability in Dystopia Anthology!
I'm going to make them into art for the collection.
Submit a picture or typed message to dis-anthology@outlook.com π from now until November 1st!

Disabled people fight for the right to wear masks during an ongoing pandemic and got told to βjust stay homeβ
We get coughed on, laughed at and threatened
Those mask bans passed
But when California tries to prevent ICE from hiding their faces?
Itβs βunconstitutionalβ.
The cruelty is the point
yay, thank you so much!! π

An image of shrek running, facing toward the bottom right corner, with a bright green wavy pathway beneath him. Above him is the green text "we're on the way to...". The path stops in the lower right corner where a wooden sign reads "50 written reviews". in the bottom left is magazine cutout letters that read "help" above small green text that says "graphic design is my passion". on the right side of the image is a screen shot of the 4.64 rating and orange stars from Goodreads. Two images of the blue book cover for ARTIFICE & ACCESS sit on the left and right of the image.
We are almost at 50 written reviews for Artifice & Access! π
If you're a #reader of fantasy #books π you may have a good time with this one!
And if you've already read it, writing a short review will help me continue uplifting disabled & chronically ill writers ππ
