I'm so happy to share that I have a story out in @aurealisfsf.bsky.social issue #185 ✨

'Catch and Consume' is fishy, mysterious, and a little weird 🐟
Just the way I like 'em.

A display of copies of Let This Radicalize You on a table in front of a sign that reads: "Let This Radicalize You offers stories, strategy and heart for the kind of collective care and resistance we're building together today. It helps us move from reacting to organizing. Showing how ordinary people protect each other, build power, and keep hope alive. Take a copy. Read it. Stay connected."

I donated some copies of Let This Radicalize You for distribution at an ICE watch training for folks who want to join school patrols in a nearby neighborhood. Not everyone got a copy, because 120 people showed up for that training tonight. I am endlessly proud of Chicago.

a comic style meme in four squares.
Top left: a hand rising out of blue ocean waves, with white text labelling it "This story hates disabled people".
Top right: a second hand enters from the left, labeled with white text that reads "escapist readers".
Bottom left shows the Escapist Reader hand high-fiving the drowning hand, with white text that reads "you should just read to have fun".
The bottom right image shows the original drowning hand falling below the waves.

β†’ Many disabled and chronically ill writers seem to value action differently; Where other authors/stories might break out into a bombastic, physically demanding scene to create drama and high staked, many of the submissions chose to play with other narratives

β†’ Anti-capitalism is a popular politic
β†’ There was a common thread of recognising that everyone has inherent worth, regardless of ability
β†’ Many stories had absolutely phenomenal descriptions of physical sensations and experiences, as well as sensory details

04.10.2025 10:12 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

β†’ Most stories featured collective care and interdependence in different ways
β†’ Narratives of unbelonging & trying to find belonging seem to be very popular and much-needed
β†’ A lot of stories were intersectional

The forever workshop emailed this morning with a line about writing stories that will make people say β€œdamn, you wrote that? Also, you ok?”. This is the consistent response I get to most things πŸ˜‚ Especially this one: www.torchliteraryarts.org/post/friday-... #litmag

This image contains text on a two-toned green background. Header text in white reads "Handwritten message submissions wanted". Below that, a ripped piece of paper has brown handwriting that reads "We will survive. Together!".
In the bottom left there is a slightly askew neon green mail sticker with the image of a green gas cloud and a skull. To the right of that is light pink text that reads "Write an empowering and supportive disability justice message, poem, or sentiment. Take a picture & submit to dis-anthology@outlook.com It will be included in a collage inside the upcoming anthology!"
At the very bottom, centred, in bright green text, is the message "if you cannot hand write it.I can do that for you! Simply submit it as a typed message."

Disabled people fight for the right to wear masks during an ongoing pandemic and got told to β€œjust stay home”

We get coughed on, laughed at and threatened

Those mask bans passed

But when California tries to prevent ICE from hiding their faces?

It’s β€œunconstitutional”.

The cruelty is the point

on the right side of the image is a screen shot of the 4.64 rating and orange stars from Goodreads.
