BREAKING: @aclu.org says Trump deported a child (U.S. citizen) with metastatic cancer without medication or consultation with physicians. This is the second child with cancer he's deported. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol... @rollingstone.com
The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach.

I’m looking forward to our session this afternoon here at #AACUCLASS. Really enjoying the conversations so far!
Quote from Stephanie Akunvabey of Pace U cited at #AACUCLASS
The work of diversity, equity, & inclusion is like the baking soda in a cookie - you don’t taste it but it’s in every bite. If you take it out you ruin the cookie. But it’s being treated like the icing on a cupcake you can just wipe away.
Article by Dewsberry, et al (2022) mentioned in his keynote at #AACUCLASS 2025:
Deep Teaching involves "specific pedagogical approaches and strategies are enacted as a function of carefully cultivated relationships and continuous dialogue with the students."

This has been one moving and important keynote. Whew.
“Teaching students how to engage in difference and respectful dialogue is something every class can do,” says @fiu.bsky.social professor @dewsbury.bsky.social. #AACUCLASS
Northern Arizona University President José Luis Cruz Rivera’s message to #AACUCLASS attendees: higher education must “move from prestige to purpose, from silos to systems, from resistance to reimagination.”
"What does it mean to have diversity if we don't create opportunities for students to learn from it?"
#AACUCLASS
Bryan Dewsberry at AACU CLASS:
"It's a rare time when words are being weaponized and are being struck from our websites and curricula. I'm struck by the speed of the retreat from those words. These are words presidents stood up and swore they believed in. Did they ever really mean those words?"
Dark Pence is back.
Don’t look at me, I voted for the black lady who didn’t want to burn down our economy.
“Woke” was appropriated from Black culture. Now mainly white people apply it as a blanket term for anything raising consciousness of women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ ppl, indigenous ppls… anything challenging the authority and dominance of white men.
www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Face it, the term woke is now just a signal of someone’s own fear, insecurity, and weakness. If you are afraid of justice it’s only because you feel threatened. That’s pitiful.
Let’s call it what it is: wokeness is a pejorative for critical thinking, for challenging the status quo. For some i’ss threatening to examine sources of harm to vulnerable groups & minorities because they don’t want to acknowledge the role they play in preserving of upholding these harms.
“And the President chose Hegseth and the other members of his cabinet for exactly that reason—as amplifiers, not policy experts or adept managers of large organizations.”
Excellent piece from @kschake.bsky.social
Education research cuts are barely moving the needle on the federal budget, but causing massive harm. Great piece by my colleagues who study math cognition.

Marco Rubio just made the argument, bold faced, not a mistake an intentional statement, that at any time the US can revoke your visa and then you are instantly here illegally and they can arrest you, deport you, torture you, all without any due process.
That means the United States is simply unsafe
Why has no one heard about supposed Russian and Chinese "aggressive incursions" in Greenland (a NATO member territory) until Vance mentioned them today? Is it because Vance is making shit up, and Trump is and both think we're stupid, or because they are?

He fired the black chairman of the joint chiefs for being woke and hired his brother.
My family has been in Ohio since 1808. On the actuarial tables, I have about 40 more years of writing. I'm watching Ohio being destroyed in real-time, and I promise you that I will make sure everybody knows how it happened, and who is to blame, in the history books.
We allow our children to be shot in elementary schools and lawmakers shrug it off. We deny hungry children food. Now we stifle their freedom of thought and silence their voices.
WHEN WILL IT BE ENOUGH
We are now at the point in Ohio where students are afraid to write about the issues they care about because they are afraid another student in their class might report them for it.
This is America in 2025.
I honestly never imagined we would see the return of white supremacy, authoritarianism, or eugenics in my lifetime.
Yet, it’s all here right now. My heart breaks more and more every day.
How dare they smile. Bastards.
If you think what happened to Rumeysa Ozturk can't happen to you because you're a citizen and she's not, you are sorely mistaken. Ozturk was snatched off the street not for being a national security threat but for having a wrong opinion. If we don't put a stop to this, it's coming for all of us.
I wish people hated fascism half as much as they hate feminism
