I'm done crying over this shit. They want us miserable and helpless. I'm just contrarian enough to refuse to indulge them. I'll be over here making art, making plans and looking after my people.

Devi Maa By Reema Rao-Patel - Witness Magazine byΒ Reema Rao-Patel There was no funeral for Devi, no puja for final rites, no pyre. That day, six months ago, crashes into the shores of Sriram’s mind the way Devi’s blood spilled from her little...

(Happy writing news abounds) I couldn’t imagine a better home for this one than Witness. Thank you to the editors for believing in the magic πŸ’«

Um wow. A second nom for BotN this year, from The Lumiere Review! "First Summer" is one of the first short stories I'd written, and I'm so happy it found its place in the world and now this. Many thanks!!

Dear Friends, Contributors, Subscribers, & Supporters of Literature,
After 35 years of editorial and publishing excellence, the president of Gettysburg College has decided to end the Gettysburg Review. Lauren & I are understandably devastated. We have been offered a rationale for this decision, but it's frankly one that neither Lauren nor I understand or accept. It was made clear to us that they know little about who we are, what we do, and what our value is, and could be, to the Gettysburg College campus.
We encourage you to reach out to the college’s president, Bob Iuliano, and provost, Jamila Bookwalla. Tell them what you think of this decision & the merits of publishing great literature.

We would love to hear about what the Gettysburg Review has meant to you. Please send condolences, anecdotes, and other stray and helpful thoughts to Lauren & me, and if we can, we will share them...

Our colleagues at Gettysburg Review have received some devastating news. It’s alarming for the literary community as a whole, & the SLM fam encourages everyone to voice their thoughts to the university that defunded them. All our voices matter! HER TWINNβ„’ An eerie mommy story by Reema Rao-Patel

I'm 3wks postpartum. I wrote this when trying for our baby & channeled all my fears into it. And I just have to acknowledge the painful truth of these words I wrote: "You cried for months and so did she, which made you cry some more." https://t.co/QcSOqgJDqG
