Are we about to see more commercial buildings converted for residential use in St. John’s? Toronto-based company hoping to convert Duckworth Street heritage property into micro-unit housing development

@mmburton.bsky.social is correct that there is much opportunity for redevelopment, but not every building works.

We must really get behind infill & redevelopment in our climate & housing crisis. Parking lots and empty lots don't support the city.

We can fix it ☺️

Even the most left wing pope compared trans people to nuclear weapons, we’re almost certainly going to see a right wing pope come out of this. I don’t hate Catholics, I’m not saying anything about them whatsoever. I respect my Catholic friends and I love my Catholic family but no love for the pope.

Is Canada poorer than Alabama? A reality check on economic comparisons Canada’s lower per capita GDP doesn’t mean lower living standards. Most Canadians are better off than their U.S. counterparts.

The typical Canadian has a higher standard of living than the typical American. We are healthier, live 3 years longer, face much less inequality and are happier. These outcomes are not accidents. They reflect deliberate policy choices.”

Samantha Hunt, one of my colleagues at Bennington College, said earlier this semester: “One of the most radical things I do is move slowly.”

I think about it all the time. Slow, steady, determined.

Be the artist who, like a persistent trickle of water, ends up carving a canyon.

Carney pledges $150M boost to 'underfunded' CBC | CBC News Liberal Leader Mark Carney said on Friday that his government would provide an initial $150-million annual funding increase to CBC and Radio-Canada as part of a new mandate for the public broadcaster.

This is actually awesome. Carney says he intends to increase CBC funding “until it can be compared to that provided by other public broadcasters.”

I’ve had 4 babies 4 different ways from home birth to emergency section, but nurse Bev, also originally from Brigus, helped me through 2 of them. Without her support I would’ve had 3 C-sections instead of 1. Thinking of her today with immense gratitude.
