"I find it incredibly difficult to see children being overlooked, the messaging which shaped my childhood, that kids growing up in poverty are not the priority, still rings loud and clear today."

Amazing news for struggling families and their children, including the 47% of children living in poverty in the PM's constituency.
This must act as a down payment to further investment in a child poverty strategy which scraps the 2child limit.

Our new data shows that in @leicesterliz.bsky.social's constituency 44% of kids live in poverty.
Liz has the power to change this, she is one of the MPs responsible for developing a strategy to tackle child poverty. To have impact this strategy must include scraping the 2child limit.
Throughout my time in Parliament, I have taken action to address child poverty. For the 32% of children in South Shields who are living in poverty, I will not give up the fight to ensure that they are given the best start in life. @endchildpoverty.bsky.social
New figures from @endchildpoverty.bsky.social show 35% of all children in the North West are living in poverty - an unacceptable and shocking statistic themanc.com/news/heartbr...

Here is our response
Today marks an unhappy milestone. The 2-child limit to benefit payments has now been in place for 8 yrs. This limits the money families can get when claiming benefits, if their 3rd + child was born after April 2017.
@teamlabouruk.bsky.social must scrap this and lift 350,000 children out of poverty
❗️1 child every 13 mins falls into poverty because of this policy❗️
This weekend marks the 8th year the two-child limit to benefit payments has been in place.
Today, together with @endchildpoverty.bsky.social we are delivering a letter to Rachel Reeves MP
We repeat our ask to #ScrapTheCap
Today, together with @endchildpoverty.bsky.social , we are handing in a letter to Rachel Reeves MP - it has been 8 years since the two-child limit was introduced.
A policy which pulls 109 kids into poverty every day – it’s time for it to be scrapped.
Today we joined @cpaguk.bsky.social and @endchildpoverty.bsky.social outside the treasury to mark a miserable milestone.
By this weekend, 30,000 extra children will have been pushed into poverty thanks to the two-child limit since the Labour Government came into power in July 2024.

CELCIS has signed a joint letter with our @endchildpoverty.bsky.social colleagues, written by Rosie, a mum pulled into poverty by the two-child limit, addressed to The Chancellor Rachel Reeves. This policy has been in place for 8 years and must be scrapped. buff.ly/lI5iebT #AllKidsCount
We're proud to have signed a joint letter ✉️ with @endchildpoverty.bsky.social Coalition, written by Rosie - a mum pulled into poverty by the two-child limit to benefit payments, addressed to Rachel Reeves MP.
⏰ This policy has been in place for 8 years and needs to end now. #AllKidsCount
This weekend marks the 8th year that the two-child limit to benefit payments has pulled families in to poverty.
Over this weekend the policy has now pulled a further 30,000 kids into poverty since @uklabour.bsky.social came to power.
We highlighted this outside The Treasury to the Chancellor.
I wish this was an April Fools joke. But it is not.
Children in poverty, and people in receipt of disability benefits are not two separate groups. If the govt wants to reduce the number of children living in poverty they need to ensure that the benefits system is properly funded.
Today we joined @endchildpoverty.bsky.social & @cpaguk.bsky.social in Westminster to put a stop to rising child poverty as it hit 4.5 million, a record high.
We urge the UK Govt to include scrapping the 2-child limit & benefit cap in the Child Poverty Strategy, this would lift 500k out of poverty.
This cannot continue, the government need to act. The quickest and most cost effective way to reduce the number of children living in poverty is to scrap the two-child limit to benefit payments. This needs to happen now.
New figures released by the government today are shocking. Child poverty has reached a new record high with 4.5 million children falling below the poverty line in the year to April 2024. This is an increase of 100,000 from the previous year.
Here is our response to the Chancellor's Spring Statement
We share the concerns of @endchildpoverty.bsky.social

In response to the government's announcement today on plans to cut incapacity and disability benefits, we have issued the following statement- highlighting how these cuts could deepen child poverty.
We also share concerns from young people, living in poverty, who will be impacted.
