A curve only ever has one tangent line. Eventually, you realize that nothing is ever truly, completely in ideal focus.
And there's a certain freedom on the other side of that realization.

Photography, poetry, humor, and a touch of economics now and then.

What, don't Big Tech trials make everyone think about the rhetorical flexes of Thomas Paine?

The Point Reyes Shipwreck is one of the most beautiful, haunting, and silly sites in all of California. It is a happenstance cathedral for photographers. Lovely shot, Jon!

Question for @marketplace.org : what % of the FOMC are renters? What % own multiple homes, mortgaged or outright?
Are we all overlooking the real economic story as we pore over the legal drama?

a screenshot from a news website. the section describes investigations into several political rivals/opponents of president donald trump into possible mortgage fraud on second homes.
Maybe we're ignoring the real issue: does it unnerve you that so many political appointees in the US own MULTIPLE HOUSES? Shouldn't roughly half of our policymakers be renters?
Imagine if every person in charge of setting transportation policy took a chauffeured car to work!
a screenshot from a news article. the first sentence reads: "If you are holding onto your aging printer or cracked smartphone longer than you had planned, you are not alone."
They didn't bury the lede (this IS the lede sentence), but they sure did ignore it:
What part of this article, other than that first sentence, talks about replacing/upgrading old printers?
How I feel about this photograph depends heavily on how I weight the #LeicaQ2 tag it bears vs the #Midjourney tag it also bears.
Anybody else feel these two ways?
Provenance is everything, these days.
Completely agree that SPM is a better metric than OPM, and that United Way ALICE thing (new to me) is better still.
As someone with both an MBA and a poetry degree, however, I found this paragraph sublime:
Those are fantastic clouds, and you did a good job lining up a complementary foreground.

Do you use any Nikkor lenses, or only adapted lenses? It's odd because the F-mount was one of the least-compatible mounts for adaptation, but now the Z allows Nikon users to explore other brands.
