The try to ban Tylenol is truly unhinged.
When I was pregnant in the UK, Tylenol seemed to be the only thing I *was* allowed to take, whether I had an ache, a cold, or was literally in the middle of giving birth.
But why would this guy care about women's pain, right?
Excited to share that my @ihr.bsky.social Fellowship has been renewed for 2025/26! 🥳
Entering my 2nd month of maternity leave, I'm grateful that during this career "pause" I'll still be able to connect with historians and have adult conversations (albeit over zoom with coos in the background) 😅
Writing is funny because both my biggest brightest dream and stomach churning dread is having people read my book.
🫧This piece by @byfleurine.bsky.social for @glamour.com is really well written and touches on some of the reasons I've felt a bit of discomfort with this season of the Summer I Turned Pretty 👇

📢unpopular opinion: Instead of watching Rogue One to cope with the end of Andor, I think the logical next watch is actually Mamma Mia, so that we can see Luthen frolick on the beach in Greece.
Episode eight, Who Are You?, is a poignant portrayal of propaganda, collective resistance and military force.
✨While I *know* everyone is talking about Andor's epic finale, I'm still reeling from last week's episodes!
📰In a @uk.theconversation.com article, I wrote about the Ghorman Front's parallels with the French Resistance - especially in its use of music. 🎵

💂 VE Day turns 80 this week.
In the UK, this means one song, in particular, will echo: "We’ll Meet Again." 🎶
In my article for @theconversation.com, I explore the song's resonance and its messages about softness as strength.

📢Really proud of this piece, based on a segment of my thesis about WW2 popular singers and the power of music in times of adversity 🎵

This is amazing!!! Well done Carrie! 🙌
About halfway through this docuseries and am completely struck by this idea from George Stroumboulopoulos: while
@thetragicallyhip.bsky.social weren't overtly patriotic in their songs, telling Canadian stories, in itself, was political. 🤯
Highly* recommend for anyone interested in music history 👇
A wonderful conference comes to an end. We laughed, we learned, we ranged across media, languages, periods. It was such a pleasure to listen to our participants and their groundbreaking research. Deep thanks to them, to our audience, to @durhamuniversity.bsky.social and @durhamhistory.bsky.social!
"Safe, Sanitized, and Altogether Unsexy": a fascinating talk on the Andrews Sisters during the Second World War by @clarevchurchphd.bsky.social
Loved this example of "Laughter as Coping Mechanism" in one of today's talks @durhamhistory.bsky.social by Vincent Scotto.
Especially enjoyed this US First World War satirical cartoon depicting the fear of German invasion, in which Canada is left to its "barbaric" ways 😂🇨🇦
