04.09.2025 13:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thrilled to share our work on speech timing in autism: we found right-hemispheric white matter pathways in the brain associated with speech timing in autistic children. Grateful to @kdvsn14.bsky.social for her dedication to this project, and @htagerf.bsky.social for supporting this collaboration.

We previously discovered that sperm whales have analogues to human vowels.
In a new preprint, we analyze linguistic behavior of whale vowels.

Excited that this publication is out now, led by Dr Kate Radville, and an amazing team. Parents need more information about DLD and in this paper we elevate their voices π

Our new paper, co-first authored with J. Zuk, in JSLHR found relationships between maternal oral reading prosody and language skills among late and typical talkers. My dissertation work takes a deeper dive into these relationships at the preschool age...coming soon!

Just did a calculation of our lab's time from project conception to publication (e-pub) over the past x years. We're averaging 3.5 years from the first idea to acceptance. About 6-9 months of this is review time. Don't know how typical this is but good reality check esp. for trainees.
