Just before sunrise looking towards Mesa Verde. Sky is yellow orange at the Mesa but changes to red, purple, pinks and blues. Typical good looking high desert sunrise.

Midnight the foster dog, a large black pit/lab mix pretends to go to the bathroom...full squat. She is an actress, she is not doing her business but searching for deer. She stayed in this position until I suggested we continue on our walk.

More snow...because this is totally normal for the high desert.

Midnight the foster dog loves it, she has learned that if she squats like she is about to do her business she can stay out indefinitely.

Looking west towards Sleeping Ute Mountain. Clouds hover around the top peaks with a bright blue sky filling the rest of the view. In the foreground sagebrush is covered in fresh snow.

Drove down to the chicken coop to dig out their run and drop some hay for the deer.

Looking towards the east (Mesa Verde) the visibility so poor due to snow that you can barely see the other side of the canyon. Mesa Verde nowhere in sight.

Went for a hike, got a couple hundred yards from the house and decided it will be an indoors coffee & cannabis day.

Time to make the donuts...I mean Ice Water Extract.

Woke to an 80 pound dog puking on my pillow at 4:30 this morning, how is your day going?

On a positive note I got in a 5+ mile hike before the sun was up. 14 days remain to hike an additional 53 miles to hit my 1000 mile goal for the year...just kill me now.

North side of a ridge that doesn't get much winter sun, still snow covered. A cactus is partially frost covered

Midway down the canyon looking north towards Mt. Wilson/Telluride. Snow covered peaks visible in the distance.

A friend dropped his son (11) off for the afternoon so he could do Christmas shopping alone. Told him I could kick his butt in a video game or we go for a hike.

Hiked the property until it started to thaw, 6.2 miles and just shy of 1200' of elevation change.

A cactus living in the crack of a large boulder on the side of the canyon. The boulder is covered in lichen of various colors.

A cactus living on the side of the canyon. Enough dirt has blown on to a large rock to give the cactus a place to root.

A lichen covered piece of stone (sandstone?). The piece is a uniform thickness and almost perfectly flat.

Hiked down the canyon this afternoon to visit some of my cactus friends...don't judge me.

A large chunk of the cliff face broke free overnight creating a bunch of sheets of this stone some 4' x 4' in size.
Need to figure out how to haul it out, would make a great patio or walkway.
