And over here, children, we see the three-year running mean global surface temperature anomaly reaching a new record high.

And over there, look children, it's a category 5 hurricane devastating Jamaica.

French pharmacies run out of Covid tests as cases soar.

Up to 150,000 COVID ‘auto-tests’ were sold last week amid a surge linked to the new XFG variant.

Self-tests give results in 15 mins but are only ~70% accurate, meaning 3 in 10 positive cases could be missed.

The Future of The Free Press The Free Press is joining Paramount.

So Weiss will remain editor in chief and CEO of The Free Press and editor in chief of CBS News, so they’re not hiding the conflict here? The head of CBS News, supposedly impartial and nonpartisan, will also simultaneously be running a highly partisan site.

Whoa! The shutdown’s ripple effect starting to hit.

Burbank Airport in LA County has no air traffic controllers on duty due to sick calls, last-minute day-off requests, and staffing shortages.

If you’re flying anywhere in the country, check for delays.

Carbon offsets fail to cut global heating due to ‘intractable’ systemic problems, study says Analysis of 25 years of evidence shows most schemes are poor quality and fail to lower emissions

Your 'moment of doom' for Oct. 7, 2025 ~ our yesterdays have lighted fools.

"The failure of carbon offsets to cut planet-heating pollution is 'not due to a few bad apples', ... but down to deep-seated systemic problems that incremental change will not solve."

Which work? Calling for gay people to be stoned to death? Blaming airplane crashes on black pilots? Anti-vax bullshit? Election denialism? Pushing Great Replacement Theory?

Kirk’s murder is awful and ominous for this country. But no, we don’t need to honor him or “continue his work.”

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

Here's an update on the global monthly surface temperature anomaly, with data from 1940 through September 2025 (to date).

The recent cooling trend has pushed the official passing of the Paris limit of 1.5°C to late 2026 or early 2027. The Climate 8-Ball is taking the under.

This image is a cartoon depicting the "elephant in the room" metaphor.

An elephant, labeled COVID-19, lies on a couch as if it’s a therapy patient, saying:
"Sometimes, even if I stand in the middle of the room, no one acknowledges me."

A person, possibly a therapist, sits nearby taking notes.

The message highlights how, despite COVID-19 still being a major issue, society often ignores or downplays its presence—just like ignoring an obvious elephant in the room.

Memory problems increase among Nordic children - The Nordic Times In both Sweden and Norway, the number of children seeking medical care for memory problems has increased dramatically.

“Between 2019 and 2024, for example, the number of doctor visits related to memory problems more than doubled, from 41,722 doctor visits to 98,910 doctor visits in 2024. Among children aged 5-14, visits had nearly tripled.”

Ever noticed how these increases are always since 2019?

The Rule of Law Is Dead in the US The rule of law presupposes that there are rules that provide a consistent, repeatable, and knowable set of outcomes. That’s no longer the case.

This will have to count as my Supreme Court term review.

I make that point that there's no point in reviewing what the Supreme Court has done because the rule of law is dead in this country anyway.

Yet another day of dreadful air quality courtesy of the Canadian wildfires. I’m new to MN, but long timers have said that poor air quality has only been an issue the past 2-3 years. The science is abundantly clear that the unprecedented fires are due to climate change. Hotter & drier=bigger fires.

If the working-class masses have no right to land, food, housing, education, healthcare, and the basic comforts that centuries of our labor created, then the capitalist class has no right to peace.
It's really as simple as that. As things continue to deteriorate, remember this.
