Joyce Carol Oates said what everyone’s been thinking and did it with elegance.

β€œAfter a year spent organizing to try to convince the Democratic Party to unify and oppose this regime, here’s where I am: The time for convincing is over. We need new leadership.” - @ezralevin.bsky.social

We cannot afford a divided and weak opposition party when an authoritarian is invading our cities, terrorizing our communities, and corruptly self-enriching at the expense of the rest of us.

We want to celebrate a Democratic Party that fights back. But after this latest surrender, the next step is primaries and new leadership. We get the party we demand, and we intend to demand one that fights.

Chuck Schumer refused to endorse Mamdani, let him be called a terrorist, and refused to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza. And people are surprised he caved. Wake up. Vote Blue No Matter Who was over a long time ago.

Democrats seem to think the pivoting to the center makes them most electable but all it does it piss *everyone* off.

Having beliefs/a backbone and being authentic is the best way to win elections. People are fucking sick of croneyism and corporate suck ups and that is why Zohran cruised to victory

Stop pretending. We're not stupid. Your own Whip supports it. And the rest are either retiring or not up for reelection in '26.

This is a Susan Collins sort of move, with just as disastrous results.

You're fooling no one.

very happy news but wanna note the Supreme Court didn’t decline to overturn Obergefell, they declined to hear Kim Davis’s case much like they do hundreds of other cases a year and I feel like it’s important to make that distinction, like it’s a yay but not a definitive yay

Trump just pardoned Rudy Giuliani and a host of others who weren't actually convicted of or facing charges for any federal crimes. Probably just performative, but it does makes me wonder what crimes he knows they committed that haven't come to light yet.

β€œHopefully the Republicans may hear us” may be the dumbest sentence I’ve heard uttered since her colleague from Maine said Trump β€œlearned his lesson” after his first impeachment.

Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats suppress the vote when they cave like this

It's not Democrats vs. Republicans, it's the rich vs. the rest of us. Democrats like Chuck Schumer were never on our side.

Asking my Senators to vote for new leadership; either Chuck Schumer cannot whip votes, in which case he's useless, or he is fine giving up leverage for nothing, in which case he's worthless.

They lined up all their defectors in safe positions or who had nothing to lose and everyone else had time to workshop their little posts about how they don't agree with this

I’m reminded of when David Hogg was elected Vice chair of the DNC. He was essentially booted out for trying to bring in some new truly productive candidates. The DNC old guard (not age related) does NOT want change. Chuck is just one example of why the dem party is weak.

10.11.2025 08:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Remember when David Hogg was kicked out of DNC for saying he wanted to primary Dems that weren’t willing to fight??
Just sayin…

I know some folks like to show respect for veteran politicians, but I’m done with that.
Dick Durbin has been useless in a job that could’ve been held by someone who actually understood the fascist threat.
If you’re not built for the fight, get out of the fight. But don’t throw us to the dogs.

Oh lord. They lost Mary Gay Scanlon. (PA-5)

Mary Gay is a solid centrist Dem. She never goes too far out on a limb.

If she is using a strident tone about her disappointment in Senate Democrats tonight, things are worse than Chuck Schumer could ever imagine.

Chuck Schumer is either allowing eight of his colleagues to be the sin eaters who take the blame for passing this shutdown deal, or he’s genuinely powerless to hold his conference together. Either way, he should be out of leadership tomorrow morning.

Give her some grace. You can’t expect people to be accountable to positions they held when they were two days younger.

Their cowardice is part of the reason we have Trump. There’s a certain percentage of MAGA that voted for Trump to escape the corporatism of Democratic centrists. Misguided thinking, yes. But some of them may come back of the Democrats can rediscover progressivism.

Cull the Democratic Party. Systematically chip away all the weak, corporate centrists and corrupt, gutless elected officials who refuse to fight and instead suck at the teat of the oligarchy.
